cablecast won't recognize dvd
So every friday we have to load all the shows through the weekend. for the past 2 weeks 1 dvd shows up as lacking a playback device. it has been a different program both weeks, however this week it was the program directly prior to the program that wouldn't load last week.
if we give it a format that is anything other than straight dvd, it works fine. if we say its an svhs tape, a vhs, or even if it is set as "dvd-recorder" which is a single disc device, rather than the dvd jukebox, it works fine, but when referred to the jukebox it junks out.
on another note, any idea how to get cablecast to recognize more than 18 discs initially- we have a 300 disc jukebox...?
thanks

Inappropriate?I have a single disc SONY DVD player...and I have the SONY controllers for the Leightronix...but the DVD players menu screen just sits stuck on air until I manually go over to the dvd player and hit play...
Does anybody know how to do a double play of some sort?
If not...the DVD players I have are worthless and so are my stupid Sony controllers we bought.
My company is not buying a 300 disc player at this time.
I am curious if this is a software glitch with the recent update I recieved from Tight Rope.
The guy that worked in my position before me said he got it to work with these DVD players all last summer. -
whats happening guys is when the command is sent it just wakes up the single dvd player out of the screensaver mode and into the DVD player splash screen, what you have to do is disable the screensaver mode in the DVD player. -
Inappropriate? So nobody knows what's going on with this huh?

Inappropriate? You may be experiencing the "consumer DVD" issue. That is: consumer DVD's have a sleep mode; most of them you can not defeat it (energy star compliant). Therefore, you must send some set of commands to wake up the DVD player before it will recognize and accept the play command for on-air play. With Panasonic players through Leightronix, this required a play then a stop command within .5 hrs. of the play time.
Check your unit's manual for this issue, and check to see if the sleep mode is capable of being shut off.
The lesson here is: consumer products are for consumers; professional products work differently. I further suggest you check with Andrew Starks for a copy of his treatise on DVD carousels from last year.

Inappropriate?John...that's all fine and good...consumer stuff for consumers and all that but these are the Sony DVD players that were recommended by the folks at Tightrope and the installing company...so...now what? We bought controllers that were for Sony Products...and they were able to work all last summer...but after I got the software update in August for CableCast...it will no longer work because they can't be controled via the RF Emitter any longer...do to the software.
I't's been suggested to me that I should do a double take...and I thought I tried that but maybe I didn' do it right? Is there away to wake the thing up via the Cablecast system becasue there's no way to turn off the sleep mode that I know of...and I don't even know if that's really it or not.
I had the guy come in that used to work here and he said that he had it running all last summer but not even he can get it to work...we both blame it on the software update. -
when you you do your settings for each device you must set your dvd players in the Generic setting once that is done you will see the wake device check box -
Inappropriate?Nothing new to report on this huh guys?
Anybody know? John Goran is the only one that has messaged me in regard to this glitch... any new info would be really swell....
