CableDisplay in Carousel 4.0

Activating CableDisplay in Carousel 4.0 is similar to creating a regular bulletin. Click the "New Bulletin" link, then: Dynamic -> CableDisplay Bulletin.

You are then given the choice of several CableDisplay bulletins. I'll try to briefly summarize them here:

- Coming up next: This bulletin is displayed before a show starts. It's the typical "Coming up next at 4:00pm, My Show" page.

- Interrupt: This bulletin appears after a show starts playing and is on the air. Typically you should never see this page. It is used mostly as a reminder to the head end that a show should be on the air.

- See it again: This bulletin appears after a show ends. It will also display any future runs of the show.

- Single page schedule: This bulletin will show your upcoming schedule. It will only display one page of schedule, however you can specify how many schedule records will be displayed on that one page.

- Multi page schedule: This bulletin will show your upcoming schedule as well, however, it will use as many pages as necessary. You can choose to display a particular number of days of schedule to display, or you can tell it to display as much schedule as will fit on X number of pages.

Each of these bulletins can be edited like a standard bulletin. What makes them unique is that they can contain keywords that will be replaced with relevant data. For example, The Multi-page schedule has three fields containing the text "#RunTime#", "#CGTitle#", and "#RunDate#". Each of these keywords (denoted by being surrounded by hash marks) will be replaced with data from Cablecast.

#RunTime# becomes "1:00 PM"
#CGTitle# becomes "My Show"
#RunDate# becomes "Wed. Jan 19, 2005"

There is a list of all the available keywords on the edit screen, and they can be placed anywhere in a block of text. For example, the "See it again" bulletin has a field with the following text:

#CGTitle#
will be replayed at:

When that page is shown, #CGTitle# will be replaced with the name of the current show.

I hope this crash course on the new CableDisplay helps... It's a pretty complex topic, but it's quite a bit more powerful than the old version. Let me know if you have any questions
