CableDisplay Next & Repeat Bulletins

Is it possible to have multiple pages on the CableDisplay Next & Repeat bulletins? Has anyone tried this?
This would be a great method of including things like a disclaimer in front of or after all programming. It could be done on a single page, but might be more difficult to read, due to reduced font size, spacing from the title info, etc.

  • Inappropriate?
    John,

This should be possible. When the "next" and "repeat" bulletins are shown, they're simply flagged as an "alert" bulletin for a few seconds before the show airs. If you assign them to appear long enough before and after a show, say 45 seconds, enough time should be left for the system to transition between the first and second page.

    Inappropriate?
Well, Chad, it is possible, however, not easy to set up and get working correctly.

Unlike the regular bulletin board, you can not drag-and-drop to make "Groups" in "Alert Pages". Once I found that out, I proceeded to make a second page from the "Next" page. That did allow me to make a "Gruop" in "Alert Pages".

Now the tough part; timing. The first thing I learned is that all pages in a group better have the same time settings, 2 different settings for each page (one on the first page "How long would you like to display the coming up next graphic?" and the second on the first "More Options" page "For how long would you like to display this page?" This one needs to be set to a manual setting to match the first one). If you do not set them both the same, the timing of the pages becomes erratic, and usually the second page ends up very short. Second, by sequencing multiple "Alert" pages, the timing issue translates into s scheduling issue. The amount of time between programs must be greater than the total amount of Interstitial Length + Total amount of time for all pages in the "Alert" sequence. If that amount of time is shorter than the total amount of time between programs, the dwell times of the pages in the sequence become erratic, and again, the second page runs short. Since the "Repeat" slide will always run for it's prescribed length, unless the amount of time between programs is really short, it seems to always translate into short time for the "Next" sequence.

What I have done at this point is as follows:

I've only added a second page to the "Next" Alert Page, and probably will stop there. To add a second page to the "Repeat" page will add too much time required between shows at both ends of a show run. I've reduced the Interstitial Length from 45 sec. to 30 sec.
All timings for all settings on all pages in the "Alert" sequence are set to 45 sec. This is due to the length of time it takes to read the disclaimer (accounting for sight-impaired viewers, which, as we found out the hard way, is an ADA issue!!!!).

So, those of you that require a disclaimer on programming, this will do it, as long as you want the disclaimer before or after all programs (except "CG Exempt"). I've reworded our disclaimer to read "The following program may be independently produced.....".
