CAROUSEL HANGING/FREEZING - Debby

We have the upgraded Carousel 4.0 which is hanging - freezing after several hours. Any ideas why this is happening? Could it be a memory leak? Norton Anti-Virus? Norton auto update? How do you shut off Norton Auto update and why is this happening. Please answer as we are part of Town Emergency Operations and more snow is coming.

Our Problems are hopefully fixed, thanks to JJ at TRMS:

1.) Enseo Alchemy control module version on the server was out of sync with cablecast - meaning when the module was upgraded on the carousel/cablecast server, it was NOT updated on the Tera One video playback server. JJ updated the control module, now video playback has been able to resume. This will appear as an error message when sending autopilot in cablecast saying "could not contact server, check connection". When upgrading to cablecast /carousel 4.0 remember to ask TRMS to update your enseo alchemy control module as well.

    2.) Updated to Direct X 9.0 C - Recommended by TRMS

3.) The latest NVIDIA Driver from windows update should not be used, use ONLY the recommended driver updates from cablecast...
Apparently there are some nasty bugs in the version mocrosoft has recommended....

4.) The Carousel Display had a problem with some transitions hanging, it appears to have been fixed over the past week.

5.) The NVIDIA driver or Video BIOS still has problems with the control panel: the Clone settings which display TV out and VGA seem to get confused when a KVM is used. If you are not switched to the Carousel system during a system reboot, the VGA output will be disabled. The TV output will do the same thing if it detects that there is not a LOAD attached to the system. It may need to "see" the path to ground (or negative leg or "return") in order to function properly: Basically the way to always avoid this is to remember it needs both displays present on reboot. ATI has had similiar problems with their TV out over the past few years, and there might not be any fix for this. So any KVM users with this problem please keep this in mind. This is easily fixed by entering the NVIDIA control panel and selecting the "Clone" setting again. This will set the VGA as the main display, then the TV out as the secondary display.
