Carousel Public Web Display
Hi. I am wondering how I can link to the Carousel from our website so that the public can see it. I also have a question about the Cablecast public site. I have been using the two public sites (we have two channels) and they seem to be working great. My question is whether it is possible to create links within this site. We have been using html (for new paragraph and bold) but putting in a link doesn't seem to work. Any help with that would be great.

Inappropriate?Hi Crescent,
1) Public Carousel 4.0 Site
The process of allowing the public to see your Carousel pages is very similar to the Cablecast public site. We have created a particular .aspx page that you can link to from your main site. The URL for the public page is:
http://[YourServer]/Public/
(Replace [YourServer] with the IP address or domain name of your Carousel server.)
Here you will find a list of links to slideshows, one for each of your channels. If you'd like to link directly to a particular channel's slideshow, you can copy any of the links on this page.
2) Cablecast Public Site Links
You should be able to use <a> tags within the site to create links. Examples:
<p>this is a <a href="http://www.trms.com/">link</a> to this frame.</p>
<p>this is a <a href="http://www.trms.com/" target="new window">link</a> to a new window frame.</p>
In the first example, the page you're linking to will be displayed inside the Public Interface frame. In the second example, the link will be opened in a new window.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?Hmmm... what does it mean when you put the correct IP address in but it just shows a blank screen?

Inappropriate?Yes - it seems that the schedule pages and weather pages don't show up - only the other static pages so there was nothing to show.
I'm still running into problems with the schedule public site and with the video zone running on the lcd screen but not the ntsc monitor or on slideshow.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?I noticed that too. Plugin pages do not show up online anymore. I would like them to if at all possible.

Inappropriate?[:I]Along the same lines, if our server is not available to the public, is there a way to export the slides in a html or compatible format for them to be posted through our public website? The address http://10.56.50.50/Display/Display.as... doesn't work from outside of our intranet.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Strangn,
If you view the page internally, you can "view the source" of the page and use that html to make a web page to host on your publicly viewable website. That is the solution that requires the least intervention by your IT guys. Frankly, I would push your IT guys for a solution that requires less work from you.
Feel free to contact me off list with any questions regarding the later...

Inappropriate? Thanks, Dubiousmike! Unfortunately, our systems do not allow us to view a source from a webpage. Our IT is not willing to open up the code or server. There must be another work around.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Tightrope doesn't use java script to disable viewing the source code, so it is likely you can right click on the page and choose "view source" which would open notepad (on a PC) to see the source that you could copy and paste. Otherwise, you can "save" the web page, rename the saved file to not have spaces int he name and put that saved page directly on your publicly viewable web server and link to it from whatever pages you wish.
If this doesn't work, let us know which platform you use (windows, mac or *nix), and what browser you use. I can likely give you very specific intructions based upon your answers. Also, if your IT people know enough to be able to block you being able to view source code on a page, it means they would have to have done so specfically on the Tightrope server, modifying Tightrope's IIS settings or web code itself. In the unlikely event they did that, they could spend far, far less time actually making your schedule viewable over the web. There are easy ways to make this happen before disabling the viewing of your source code...

Inappropriate? Thanks, o, dubious one. The View source is disabled on all websites, but the right click still lets me view the source. This seems to work great fo the text, but not the slides themselves. Perhaps I'm missing somthing[?](This wouldn't be unusual).
We use a windows system and internet explorer.
I really appreciate your help! -
Inappropriate? In internet Explorer, you can go under "File" and then "Save As". Int he dialog box, there is a drop down box labeled as "Save as type" which usually has "Web Page, complete (*.htm, *html) selected as default. Make sure it says this and it will save web page with a folder with the same name that has all of the images needed (if you need to do slides - if you just want the scedule, there is usually no images). When saving, try to make sure there are no spaces in your file name.
Upload the web page and the folder into the same directory on the web server and it should all work...
