Could I set the weather bulletin to look other than the national weather service? what I wanted to do was to get data from weatherbug because I can get the weather information thru weatherbug from a local school. any ideas? thanks!

Inappropriate?I'm pretty sure Weatherbug offers an RSS feed although I can't say if one from each weatherstation is available. If you have the RSS option for Carousel, that might be the easiest way to go.
If I remember correctly, the TRMS plug-in pulls text files from the NWS FTP site. I don't know what it would take to adapt the weather plug-in to use the same text-sensitive backgrounds with an RSS feed, but it would be a cool option. Perhaps they can add it to the list.
In the meantime, the RSS reader will let you set a general weather background.

Inappropriate? You may want to carefully consider the legal ramifications regarding the use of weather forecasts other than NWS.
In an issue here in Maine quite a few years ago, a local TV station was sued due to an incorrect weather forecast that caused damage to personal property. The outcome of that was to only use NWS forecasts (in this case, specifically Marine forecasts), or weather forecasts generated from certified meteorologists.
Add in the copyright issues, too.

Inappropriate? We have had many requests to implement weather through weatherbug.com. It's on the list to investigate. Weatherbug sells their weather data so I'm not sure if we could get the data for free. Would people be willing to pay for the weatherbug service?

Inappropriate?Weatherbug is free on my laptop, albeit ad driven. I'm pretty sure the RSS feed I saw on their website is free. My guess without looking is that it's probably only regional and I bet they embed ads in the free feed.
I'd bet even money they have an SDK that would let you custom your own app, but I'm sure there'd be a fee for the localized raw data.
I think it would make a very cool plug-in to Carousel. I think some of my customers would be willing to pay a modest subscription fee for an updated service - particularly the school systems.
