Change from Internal Network to External Internet
I run a Cablecast system with 2 seats of Carousel, using a Leightronix Pro16 for device control and routing, running 4 playout streams with a VS4 server. While these devices talk to each other via an in-house network, none have an external IP address.
I want to make Cablecast/Carousel accessible from the Internet. What do I need to do?
Do I need to get another DSL phone line and fixed IP address?
Can I alternate between control via internal network and external Internet?

Inappropriate?Networking is one of those pests that can be a pain to setup, but will run quite flawlessly once configured right. What you're looking to do is setup a Network Address Translation, or NAT on the router that stands between your internal network and the internet. This NAT will tell computers that connect to it to "pipe though" to the internal IP address of the server. A good first step may be to read Tightrope's Not-So-Short Guide To Networking which you can find at:
http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...
This document goes over the ports we use for various functions, the differences between a public and private IP address, and an explanation of NAT to help point you in the right direction. I hope this helps!
