Chy TV dsk
Does anyone know where I could find instructions on how to insert a transparent bug using a Chy TV dsk with Cablecast. The only way that I was shown to do it after installation was to replace the bug.png file with our own logo but when I do it that way the transparency properties of the new file are not maintained.

Inappropriate?I have never found any instructions on building slides for a ChyTV, other than what is in ChyTV Tools. Your assumption is correct, though, you must replace the bug.png file with your own.
I haven't had my unit for a year, since it never worked, and I sent it back to Chyron, but I remember having to set transparency in the .jpg file before converting it to .png. I seem to remember some settings in ChyTV Tools that I was playing with, but again, that was a year ago, and probably a different version of Tools.
I can tell you it took hours of experimentation, and many iterations, to get even close to something usable.

Inappropriate?I used the microsoft Paint tool to create the new bug file. Remember to save as type *.png. What ever is full black in my png file will be treated as transparent. I have had fairly good luck with the ChyTV Plus unit we just purchased. On one ocassion I had to restart the TRMS DSK Control Module. We are so far only using very basic
features supported by TRMS DSK plugin i.e Bug, Crawl and Bug text.
from what I've read you need both the most recent TRMS software and the latest ChyTools bits to get this to work reliably.
If you want more details on image size and resolution I can look that up for you.

Inappropriate?.jpg files don't include the alpha channel - you might want to open the original file in photoshop, save it as a .png, but confirm the transparancy is toggled on. If you just tried to make a .png from a .jpg, there wouldn't be any alpha channel to put into the new file, defaulting to 100%.

Inappropriate?if you use photoshop, not only do you need to check off to export with transparency, but you should choose a matte of none to avoid a white outline around your image.
