Feature Wish: Full Function Alert Page
I also am extremely pleased with our Tightrope systems and our Police department is excited about being able to use the Alert Page of Carousel to post breaking news and Amber Alerts. Only problem is that we run LOTS of video programming, so if we're not broadcasting Carousel, then no one sees the Alert Page. How about a checkbox which the user could check which would override all scheduled programming until unchecked? This would force the channel back to Carousel and pre-empt further scheduled programs until the alert is over? Just a thought.

Inappropriate? What if we had a 3rd progam that would sit atop Cablecast and Carousel. It would be specifically for creating alert announcments. You can give only fire/life/safety people a password to it and it would manipulate Cablecast and Carousel to carry out their requests...

Inappropriate?Andy, I always like to sell more stuff, but technically speaking (which I shouldn't be)if you can force a switch from a remote location using Cablecast, why can't that be incorporated into Carousel when an alert page is activated?

You can, and that's a great point. A third application would give Fire/Life/Safety people a simplified point of access to accomplish it. It would also be the application that would integrate into fire alarms, weather alert systems, smart-sets and paging systems.
My thinking is that Carousel would work as the interface for this, but having an interface specifically designed for emergancy messages would be cleaner.
