Feed an RSS into the crawl?
I'm a newbie to carousel here at Madison Ch. 10. I am planning on integrating the RSS feature of Cablecast into our website...but as I was familiarizing myself with the features of carousel, I noticed the "dynamic" feature.
Is there a way to get the display engine to parse the RSS feed for a constantly updating schedule when the CG is up? Or could there be one in a future update (hint, hint)?
Thanks,
Gray

Inappropriate?Ummm... yes?
With the RSS Plug-in for Carousel yes and yes, depending on the question.
You can:
Feed RSS into a crawl. Instead of going to the Dynamic tab, go to the crawl tab.
Feed Cablecast's RSS output into Carousel's RSS reader. Go to the extras menu in Cablecast and locat your system's RSS url. Put that into Carousel.

Well, somehow my RSS feed itself seems to be kerflummoxed now, after the last schedule I entered. I've been unable to figure out which section is not well-formed, since it is automatically generated.
I've found the "crawl" section of the Carousel, but it doesn't clearly state that it would take a URL. As soon as I get the RSS feed figured out, I'll paste it in, though, and let you know the result. -
Inappropriate?RSS is fixed, and I discovered that we don't have the RSS plugin for our Carousel. Now we're working on fixing that.
Plugging the RSS feed into a regular newsreader, though, I notice that the information is not the most conducive for our viewers. For example, the second most prominent information is the duration of the show, rather than the time airing. Are there ways to configure the RSS feed within Carousel, or is it completely (and irrevocably) automated? -
Inappropriate? Is there any way to show the show name and then the time it is airing? Right now I can only get the cablecast RSS feed to show the show name and runtime or the show name and date in carousel...
