General questions
I have a few general questions on working with Cablecast that I'd appreciate people chiming in on.
1) Is there a way to sort Shows when you Show All? I'm unable to find any method to the order in which shows are displayed, and I'd certainly like to have the option of sorting by ID number, Project, Title, etc.
2) The Extras Print Schedule feature creates a nice program schedule. Unfortunately, it does not include Manual Events, and that's how we enter the live meetings we carry. Is there a way to include these Manual Events in the program schedule?
3) The Reports area presents a lot of information that I don't want, and much of what it includes seems to be based on the Event Date field in the program database. Is there a way to bypass this field? I'd much rather pull information based on a range of broadcast start and end dates.
Thanks.

I have this question, too!
Tell me when someone answers.
The more people who ask this question, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?I can help with the first question.
Click on the Title Header and it will sort shows. Click on Show ID and it will sort by show ID. Click on Length and it will sort by length...shortest to longest etc.
I believe there was a problem with past versions of the software. -
Inappropriate? Thanks for responding. I had actually tried what you suggested, to no avail. We are using Cablecast 4.4.

Inappropriate?I looked over our notes from our various releases, and it looks like there was an issue with sorting a "Show All" search that was present in Cablecast 4.4.0 and 4.4.1, but fixed in Cablecast 4.4.2. The exact notes are:
quote:In cablecast 4.4.0, when doing a "show all" search, it won't sort in any field. The simple work around is to search by anything (i.e. "A") and then sort those, then do a "show all" and it will be sorted by the previous criteria.
So, for now, you could try the workaround that was mentioned, but I'd suggest giving our support department a call and getting an upgrade to our latest release of Cablecast.
I'm going to give your other questions a bit more thought, but not to worry, I'll respond eventually! [:I]

There are three different types of reports that you can run; All Shows, Scheduled Shows, and Export Data.
Export Data will simply save a raw text file of your data, suitable for importing into other reporting software.
All Shows will create a report based on shows that have an Event Date that falls in some range. This, to me, sounds like the report that you're running at the moment. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Scheduled Shows will create a report based on shows that were scheduled during a given date range. This is probably the report that you want to be running. There's some more discussion about reporting in this thread.
Let me know if this helps at all or not.

Talked this one over with our other developers, and we're in agreement that 1) You're right, it doesn't include Manual Events, and 2) It probably should.
So, I've created a bug report about it, and I imagine it should be resolved in our next minor update. Since we just yesterday released an update, it may be a little while before the next one is released. But rest assured, we will address it. [:)]

Inappropriate? We released Cablecast 4.5.4 today, which now includes Manual Events for all the Extras items, including Print Schedule, RSS Schedule, Web Schedule, and iCal Schedule.
Give us a ring (866-866-4118 x250) or an email (support@trms.com) to get the update.
