Help! line-in audio not making it through Carousel
Not getting any audio throughput when we plug into the blue mini input on the back of the Carousel. Switched over from background list audio to line-input audio in Config/Channel/background audio etc.,....any suggestions? We need this going right away to put a NOAA weather streaming feed across with the Carousel BB pages... Source is a laptop and the cables are confirmed good. For some reason the Carousel does not like what it is receiving -- what could be the problem???

Inappropriate? One thing to check is make sure the line in is enabled on the player. You can do this by:
- double click on the display engine to exit to the desktop
- double click the speaker icon in the system tray (lower right corner of the screen, you may have to click the arrows to reveal it)
- confirm the Mute is unchecked and the Volume is set to something high enough to hear under "Line In"
- click the Carousel Display Engine icon on the desktop to resume the Carousel display
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Any updates on this, Tom? Were you able to find the problem, or is it still acting up for you?

I’m curious

Inappropriate? We ended up streaming natively through the Windows Media Player all week. Only one dropped connection occurred.
John, to answer your question, we're not sure if pilot error remains the culprit. I need to go back and doublecheck that we restarted the Carousel engine when testing the external line-in (I'm almost certain we did, as that's the final step). Also, we didn't have WMP running during testing for the external audio feed (don't know if that's necessary for that to work). Otherwise, all other parameters were correct. -
Inappropriate? No need to have WMP running to use either of Carousel's background audio options.
One thing to try is quit the DisplayEngine completely, and see if you can get the line-input to play through Windows itself. The DisplayEngine basically just turns the line-in volume up and down in the sound control panel. So if Windows can play it natively, the DisplayEngine shouldn't have any issue.
If you decide to spend more time troubleshooting, let us know the results. :)
Thanks, --john
