Our DVD import utility is an easy to learn tool that allows users to encode DVDs onto the serer faster than real time.

With the software (see your dealer for pricing information), you are able to install it on nearly any PC based OS with a DVD drive. I've outlined the intricacies of the software below.

You can either launch the DVD Import software by double clicking on the application or by simply inserting a DVD into your computer and selecting 'Import DVD' from the pop-up window

The application is broken into three different panes. First, we are able to choose where to get the file. Here, I'm getting it from my 'E:' Drive. Next We are able to see the layout of the DVD. Here we can select the specific title and chapter that we are looking to encode. Below this we are able to enter the ShowID, Reel, and Title information. This will be used in the file key.

The third pane is a preview window where we can verify that we have selected the correct chapter.

With in the 'Options...' we are able to set up a working directory for the system to write to as the file is encoding. (This is different from the final output of the file.) Here, we're also able to set the way in which we want to process the audio. By selecting 'Legacy', the software will not perform any processing on the audio channel.

After selecting 'Import' the system will ask for a target directory for the file. This can be a mapped directory to your video server, network storage, or saved locally on your workstation.

As the file is encoding you will see a status bar near the bottom of the application window.

Once the import is complete, you can copy the file onto your video server for playback.

    Advanced Audio Processing

By selecting 'Advanced' audio processing from the 'Options' menu we are able to have the system analyze and adjust the audio as it encodes.

After selecting this as an option, we see a 'Audio Processing' section appear within the application.

Within this section we are able to adjust the audio for the entire program (-20dB - +20dB).

Below that, we are able to turn on 'Normalize' which will adjust the the audio for the entire program. This is useful if a program usually comes in with hot of soft audio throughout.

Finally, we have a 'Dynamic Compression' option, which allows the system to constantly monitor the audio throughout the encode process and increase and decrease the level as necessary.
