importing dvd playback problem
Imported Sony mini dvd+rw 1.4gb and copied file to SX. On SX, can watch full show (35+ minutes) on WMP, but playback counter stops at 10:14 and it will only play that long when broadcast, regardless of the time I say the show should go for. WMP on the server I used for import counts 35+, but I only get audio and a skin - no video. It also says "acquiring codex" before video starts playing.
I tried using the FixMpeg program, but it thought the file was just fine.

Inappropriate?Hi Ictv,
Hmm.. Sounds like there's a problem with that file at around the 10:14 mark. Perhaps try re-importing it from the original source?
For what it's worth, WMP doesn't do the best job at telling you about problems in video files. I'd recommend using VLC (http://www.videolan.org) for playing back files on a computer, as it usually does a better job about describing errors.
In any case, I think the best bet is to re-import your file and see if the newly imported file works any better.

Inappropriate? Thanks, John. As it turns out, although only 10:14 shows on the counter, the whole video will play on our new SX, so no problem! When I had this happen in the past, our old VSX would read like the WMP and only play up to what the WMP counter said, no matter how much time I allotted for it in the schedule.
Producer said he stopped about 10 minutes in, so this might have something to do with it. Might compression be a factor, too?
Thanks for the advice about VLC - I'll give it a try. ~ Mary Ellen
