Live Video Feed getting stuck
Hi Folks,
Have you had any reported problems of live video feeds from URLs getting stuck?
We have one running that cycles up to the live feed, then only shows the live feed until we hit 'escape' on the player. Setting the timing on the slide does not seem to matter.
Can you help me solve this mystery?
Thanks,
Megan

Inappropriate?Hey Megan,
I'm not sure why the videos are getting stuck... they definitely shouldn't be.
We had someone else report a very similar situation in this topic: http://gsfn.us/t/ci5m
We'll investigate ASAP and report back as soon as we know what's going on.

Inappropriate?Megan,
By chance is this a public feed that we could have access to so we may look into it on our test systems here? Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hello Megan,
One of our developers is looking into this issue.
If the URL you're having trouble with is public, we would like to take a peek!
Thanks,
Jennifer
I’m curious

Inappropriate?I'm going to throw this out there, because this seems really interesting.
I was under the impression that carousel couldn't play rtsp live feeds. Because only live feeds that play in windows media player work.
However by uploading a QT announcement file, you must be forcing Carousel to load the QTHelper application which I assume since the feed works forever, is able to play the rtsp.
If I had to take an educated guess. The QTHelper app expects the 'video' to end, and when it ends sends a callback to Carousel telling it the video has ended and the bulletin has reached the end of its cycle.
Because a live stream has no end, the QTHelper app never sends the command to Carousel to move on to the next bulletin.
If you can get this working its pretty cool, because I've always wanted to be able to send rtsp feeds to my Carousel players.

Even though the threads are about the same thing (I Think). I really meant to put this reply here: http://getsatisfaction.com/trms/topic... -
Inappropriate?Ray, you are completely correct. It was the other thread that was discussing rtsp, but lets assume they're related for now.
I was really hoping to get more information from Trevor or Megan on exactly what sort of stream they have or get access to it over the internet.
You must be right about the announce file getting handled by the QTHelper and you're correct in asserting that if the video doesn't end, we'll sit waiting for Quicktime to tell us it has ended forever.
The problem is, rtsp is like http, it can carry anything. Trevor was using Quicktime to create the stream, so it was in some sort of Quicktime supported format. If someone has a public rtsp stream from Quicktime Streaming Server, I'd like access to it so I can look at fixing Trevor's issue.
Megan, can you clarify what type of stream you are trying to use? -
Inappropriate?Hey Scott,
I've got a public rtsp stream you can mess around with. As I am on an iPhone right now I don't feel like digging through source to find the URL. If you go to my site www.ctn5.org and click on watch live ( it is in one of the menu items on the left) The link will be on that page.

I’m thinking this is sweet

Inappropriate?Trevor and I are referring to the same problem. I believe he might have emailed a link to you.
Megan -
Inappropriate?Megan,
Actually Trevor didn't email a link to us. If you could it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jennifer -
Inappropriate?Hi Jennifer, Trevor is in Germany at the moment, but I do think he emailed it to carousel support. Do you have a general email account it could have gone to. I do not actually have the link...
Megan
I’m okay.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Megan,
I've checked with support and all of our general incoming mail to no avail. It would be great if Trevor could send the link when he returns from Germany.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Inappropriate? For RTSP feeds .... perhaps a forced time out? For example, if a live stream is included in a bulleting, force the bulletin to end after ten (or 15 or 20) seconds.
