Loop a Server Clip?
Hey, I've got a question: Is it possible to "loop" a clip from the server?
Last night's important and controversial Selectmen's meeting ran 2:47. That's 2 minutes, 47 seconds. So people don't miss it, I'd like to have it keep repeating for a few hours or so. Any way to do this in Cablecast?
I suppose I could make a DVD and loop it on the player, and just have CC switch to the player at the appointed time.

I have this question, too!

Inappropriate? When I try to loop with cablecast back-to-back, I need to make sure that autopilot doesn't tell the system to air out of the same decoder. I am using version 4.5. Before I send the outpilot I check the box that says "Use run balancing when choosing a device". Sometimes I physically goto "Event Table" and change from what decoder the file is playing from. This is the order I use: Decoder 1, decoder 2, decoder 3 and decoder 4 then I go back to 1 and start the whole cycle again. If I try to air the same file back-to-back out of the same decoder, the next time it airs you will get black on the air and the decoder will not play.

Inappropriate? My suggestion would be to make like 5-10 entries with the same show id, copy and paste them as many times as you'd like, and then let the bump order them to the correct time.
The other option might be turn it into a flash video, and just let it play on Carousel solo.

Inappropriate?I have to admit that I'm confused by ripple and bump. I guess I'm skittish about testing them to see what they really do.
Another solution that would really help, that I suggested as a new feature about a year ago (forgive me, Andrew,) would be an optional default on the New Show page, which would automatically enter the end time of the previous show as the start time for the new show. -
Inappropriate? There's a quick way to make a new entry with the last time available - on the schedule screen, if you notice the thin bar on the top - it should be either green or white... that's a graphic of the 24 hour day - green is already scheduled, white is open. If you click on the white section after the show (you can mouse over to see the direct times), it will open a new entry with that starting time. Very helpful tip once I saw it.
Another thing I found helpful - i though the search function on the upper left was only for show numbers for some reason - it works for any search term or letter - so if you know you want a show with 'tour' in the title, you can pick from a list of that, and not have to just remember the show ID number.

Inappropriate?Cablecast 4.7 (recently released) has some kick-butt new scheduling features that you might want to check out.
@WHCA: Rippling has been expanded quite a bit in 4.7. It allows you to "move" a scheduled show either by a specified amount of time, or so that it is adjacent to the previous or next run. Additionally, the new schedule lets you quickly and easily drag & drop shows right after each other.
@SCTV17: The schedule bar that you're referring to was expanded in 4.7... It's now the entire schedule. You can click in various "gaps" in the schedule to add a new show entry. Also, there's a cool new search pane that's integrated into the schedule so you can do searching and scheduling all on the same web page.
It's hard to describe everything in words, sp I made a screencast a while back that demonstrates all these new features. This was based on a beta build, so there are a couple of minor changes between what you see in the screencast and what you'll see in the official release, but you'll get a solid overview. Check it out in this thread:

Hey, I just tried that, and it works! This should save me a lot of time.
Can anybody explain in detail what rippling and bumping are? -
Inappropriate?I'm 100% on this but my impression was -
Rippling - everything after the ripple moves by x amount of time
Bumping - just the next event moves to fit the time of your inserting program.
Bumping will continue to the next show if there isn't enough time until there's enough of a free block that it is open.
So... If I have a 6 minute show - Play it at 12:55pm - the 1:00pm show will bump by 1 minute. If the 1 PM show was 59:30 minutes, and the next show started at 2:00 pm it would bump that one only 30 seconds...
If the 2:00 show was 59:30, then a 3:00 pm show would not change, since you've made up the 1 minute difference in your time slot.
