Multiple User Issues
This, as I can recall, has never occurred in previous versions. Over the last week when two of our staff attempts to access either cablecast or carousel at the same time, pages would stall, not refresh, timeout, and in one instance log-out the other person. Yesterday, I was the only one logged on and after working for about 20 minutes, the page would not refesh and stated that too many user were logged on. We are running 4.1.2 and since the upgrade seem to have slower access.
Viewing with IE 6.x browser. Have tested with Firefox with same results.
We upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1.2 in December and do not recall this occurring until the last week or so.
Thanks

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?I also had this happen yesterday for the first time. I was accessing the system from a remote location and there was no one else on the sytem and I kept getting the too many users on issue.

Inappropriate?Tim:
That is exactly the same scenerio I had yesterday. I was logging in from home and had this problem.

Inappropriate?I wonder if it is a BUG in the latest version. I was just upgraded the other day. Something for JJ, Andy, and Chad to look at. I have not seen the problem from my remote computer in house yet today.

Inappropriate?David and Tim, We have had other people with a similar problem. Basically what is happening is that web server thinks too many people are connected and slows to a halt. Unfortunatly, may things can cause this to happen; low memory, virus, configuration, etc... Give us a call on Monday, or when you are avaliable, and we can VNC ( vnc.trms.com ) into your Cablecaecast machines and figure out what is happening.
Thanks,

Inappropriate? My company is having the same problem. It would be great if someone could post an actual solution so users could troubleshoot problems more quickly by themselves. When people have an immediate problem they tend to want an immediate solution.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hey Nick,
I don't know if you noticed but this thread is 4 years old. Most likely your issue is not being caused by the same problem as the above posts, although the symptoms may be the same.
If you are getting the "Too many users logged on at once" message while trying to access cablecast here are a few things to look into:
Unless you have Cablecast Pro, the server is limited to 10 people logged in at once? Do you have more people using the system than this? This includes actual users (people creating schedules) as well as people accessing a public web schedule, public web site, rss feeds, etc....
Here are some solutions...
1) Decrease the timeout length, I am on a mac right now so can give any screen shots, but its a setting thats in the IIS configuration (you could google it)
By default I think its set to like 200 hundred seconds, which is about 3 mins. Decrease it to like 20 seconds or something, whatever is usable for your staff. This will keep people who look at the public web site from keeping others logged out even if they are not doing anything.
2) Use the web service instead of the public site. By using the web service, all the requests to cablecast come from the web server, so they all count as one user. This leaves 9 other 'users' which is more than enough for me at least. I never get the too many user logged on message anymore, but I used to get it a lot when using the public web site.
3) Get Cablecast Pro.... This is the most costly operation.
Hope this helps.
The guys at support should be able to help you next week as well.
