Inappropriate?I can't wait...the snow is falling fast. I wanted to give you a link to the server, but the Tightrope Support link isn't working. I'll try you again tomorrow. I should know better than to try to install and fix problems in the late afternoon!
I’m tired and scared
-
Inappropriate?LCTV,
Check your inbox as soon as you get in, we sent out a download key for the control modules last night before closing. Sorry about the mix up!

Inappropriate?Hi Chad or Grayson or whomever is working tech support ~ I downloaded the program, it's showing in my system, did a restart on the computer, but am getting error message "72.45.174.59: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 72.45.174.59:56700"
That is the correct IP. What now?
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate? That error usually means that the CablecastDeviceControl Service is not running on the computer with that IP address.
If that's the correct IP address for the computer, then I'd check the Services control panel and make sure that CablecastDeviceControl is in the "Started" state.
-John -
Inappropriate? Thanks, John. Where do I find the serives control panel? Went to Location Seetings: I/O: Devices and they all check marked under "Active" so I guess that's not what you are talking about.
I’m at least I'm doing something
-
Inappropriate?Services control panel is not in cablecast.
Right click on "My Computer" on the desktop and choose "Manage"
-ray -
Inappropriate? Thanks, Ray. When I tried to start got error message: 1069: The service did not start due to logon failure
-
Inappropriate?Could this have something to do with the way I downloaded the program? I notice all the other programs have Log on as "Local System" or "network System, but this one has ".\Administrator..."
-
Inappropriate?CablecastDeviceControl, to my knowledge is supposed to logon as Administrator.
Have you changed the administrator password. (for the windows system, not cablecast user).
Make sure the login password is set properly. On a default system it should be 'trms'
-ray -
Inappropriate? So if I typed wrong password that could be the issue? I just reinstalled under local system without admin and it seems to be working fine. Should I uninstall and do it again under admin with trms as the password?
-
Inappropriate?I would install it again under Administrator just to be safe, that way Cablecast always has the permissions it needs.

Okay, the problem has gotten worse. I had schedule built until the 12th, but now they're gone. When I came in today the server was off. I turned it on and it started running a RAID program. Am I having hard drive problems? -
Inappropriate?Okey-dokey. All is well. Except for that encoder problem. Thank you, eveyone!
I’m glad and I learned something!
-
Inappropriate?I spoke too soon! All looked well, but program wasn't playing. When I try to force, I get: An error occured while forcing. Try again or check the system configuration.
Unable to connect the the VSX serverVSX forced to Top Monitor with take delay of 0.
I cleared the router, checked to make sure device was started (it is), booted the server. Checked all the settings and all looks okay.
Are you still working today? -
Inappropriate?Darn. I'm actually home for the night by this point, but lets see what we can figure out from here (if you're still around.)
Are the control modules running both on the server and the cablecast bundle? I don't think anything happened with the Cablecast installation on the bundle, but it doesn't hurt to check.
Second, which machine was powered down and giving you a RAID window, the VSX or the Cablecast bundle? I'm guessing the VSX as the bundle doesn't have a raid. We could be looking at a problem with one of the drives. Does the raid utility that opened tell you if the array is degraded or rebuilding?
The schedule being gone is an odd one, that goes to the bundle machine and gets saved as soon as its entered into the database. Have you tried checking from another computer or web browser to make sure its not a web page caching problem?
-Chad
I’m sorry you're still having problems!
-
Hi Chad ~ Sorry to bug you at home! I'm home, too, trying to see what I can do from here. Forget the thing about the schedule - for some reason it opens the tab "record" instead of LCTV. Schedule is there.
How do I check the cablecast bundle? Something I need to do from the computer on site, I bet.
The RAID was running on the VSX. I'm almost positive it said it was rebuilding. There were cylinder icons doing their thing in the tray in the lower left corner. Made me nervous, but then they went away so I figured all was well. Duh.
I'll be going in to the station tomorrow morning @ 11am EST. Unless you can think of anything I can do remotely, I'm done for the night and you should be, too! -
I pinged the sever and that worked just fine. I also found the 4.6.4 program I accidentally removed and restored that thinking that maybe there was something incompatible the 4.6.5 program, but it didn't make any difference. -
Inappropriate?Well I'm glad the schedule is there, that's the most important part. If the raid is rebuilding that's good news too, as it always has to rebuild after a sudden power loss (which is what sounds like happened.) but it means that the drives are OK. We'll take a peek in the morning and get everything buttoned up!
-Chad -
Inappropriate?Mary Ellen,
I took a look tonight and saw we had your IP and password on file. I popped into the VSX and figured out that the VSX Tray Program wasn't running. This is a tiny little catch about the VSX servers, there should have been a little "Install VSX Tray App" check box on the installer that maybe you missed. You're not the first!
I re-sent autopilot and tested playback quickly while the channel was on the sat feed, and without being able to actually see the air monitor it looked like everything was playing back fine.
Additionally, from what I can see on the VSX it looks like it's having an issue with the encoder card inside the VSX. Can you describe to me the layout and type of ports on the back of the encoder input card on your VSX? Do your video and audio inputs into the encoder go directly to a BNC and Mini connector on the back of the card, or are they connected to a break-out-box that sits separate from the VSX?
Have a good night if you're not already! We'll talk tomorrow.
-Chad -
Yeah! Thanks! Programs are airing! I'm so glad because I was going to have to postpone other plans I had for today in order to go back to the station to work on this. You "popping" into the VSX saved me gas and lots of time. Thank you!
I'll be back in the station on Saturday. I'll send you a report then on the layout and type of ports on the back of the encoder input card on the VSX and answer your questions about the connections then. Thanks again for your hard work, especially since you were off the clock! Amazing customer service, Chad! ~ Mary Ellen -
info on encoder card:
# 3875
The video and audio inputs go directly to a BCN and Mini connector on the back of the card. There's an S video, one BNC in and one BNC out and one mini audio in, one mini audio out.
I'll be back in the studio Tuesday afternoon if you need me to do anything. Thanks, Chad! ~ Mary Ellen -
Inappropriate?Mary Ellen-
Thanks for the information! Here's what's going on with your encoder.
-It's installed in the unit (as you saw) but Windows is not seeing the card. This is most likely because the card has become just slightly un-seated due to a bump or other slight jolt. Do you have a technician that could open up the machine and try to re-seat the card?
-Chad -
The machine was shipped there and back, so that answer makes sense. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the guys who sometimes help me out doing this. I'm going to see if i can get a pro to make a house call. Thanks! I'll let you know what happens. ~ Mary Ellen -
Wait a minute! I forgot something. On another thread I started about the encoder problem, I mentioned that I changed the control module setting from the Vela to VSXCM and now I'm not getting an "error" message when it checks the encoder in autopilot. That was six days ago; maybe you didn't see my message. Do you still see a problem when you go in there? How do I check to see if the encoder is working? ~ Mary Ellen
