Not enough playback devices
We have an SX4 with 4 playback devices from the cablecast server. Sometimes when we schedule shows it tells us that it can not find a playback device available for a certain file. We only run 4 output channels from our cablecast so we should be covered by the 4 SX playback devices correct? What are some reasons this might be popping up?

Inappropriate?Depending on the version of Cablecast your running, the SX doesn't support gapless playback. Which means that if you schedule shows back to back to back, it is not able to play those shows all out of one video port, it has to bounce them around so that they can cue up.
If you have shows playing on all 4 video ports and its trying to find a device to cue up the next show, it would throw this error.
I'm pretty sure Tightrope is coming out with a fix for this, it might already even be out.
I'm sure someone from tightrope has a better explanation than I do.

Inappropriate?Makes sense.
One thing to throw out there. Three of the output channels are playing the exact same file. Shouldn't I be able to just route one playback device to all three output channels? -
Inappropriate?Logically, yes. But I don't think Cablecasts Autopilot calculates things that way. I believe, and I could be totally wrong, that it treats each channels output as being totally separate, and not checking to see if they are actually playing the same thing at the same time.
If this is true, than it cablecast would need one video output for each of your channel outputs.
Is the channel outputs always the same though? Cause if thats the case you could just juse a video distribution amp connected to one of the channels output, that way you free up those other 2 servers.
