Record Run

I programmed in a Record Run on a four hour program on two tapes, each programed as reel 1 and reel 2 of the same show. However, when the Record took place (to a DVD Recorder with the EP setting turned on, it recorded the entire length of the show (four hours!), yet the switch from one devide to the other never took place. Is there a missing setting on the record device?
