Record Run Preset
Hopefully this isn't something that's already possible and I just didn't know about it, but what if a user could have a show ID predisposed to record the run each time it's scheduled.
This would be helpful with things such as live meetings or live studio shoots that get recorded as they go out live.
It would also help forgetful programmers who sometimes neglect to set a run to be recorded and have to ingest it the next day.

Inappropriate?Hey David,
I don't know how your idea would really work... because if your idea was implemented then you would have to be just as mindful to override the automatic recording every time you replayed something.
I think maybe a better way was to have a format, not a show ID predisposed to record. For instance I always record content that is coming from my studio. But I never record runs that are playing back from my video server (that would be pretty redundant).
This way when You or I initially schedule a show that is coming from a studio, satellite, conference room feed. It automatically sets up a record. Once we go back in the next day and trim the show and change the format to On of our video servers, we don't have to worry about it recording over and over again.
Would that work for you?

Inappropriate?Hey Ray -
I can see how it might work for some, but not others. Let me be specific on how I usually handle live encoding and I think you'll see where it might help me out...
We're lucky enough to have fiber connections straight to our router, so It's sweet to be able to encode city council and school committee meetings as they run live. I have one show ID # for the live run, and after every new meeting, I go in and change the ID # to a different show ID that I use for replays. As we back up all the meetings on DVD, I delete the previous meeting, so I alway just have the most recent one on the server. I do the same thing for live monthly studio shoots.
So, if you follow my process, you'll see that it might be helpful for me to have some sort of checkbox that would automatically record a run when that specific live ID # is scheduled.
Hope that makes sense.
I’m steaming toward a long weekend.

Inappropriate? And all that being said, is there a way to set a specific format to automatically record?

Inappropriate?David,
At the moment there is not a way to make a specific format automatically record. A good suggestion to add to the list, however!

Inappropriate?Auto record type things are tough for meetings since you never know for sure how long they are. I started a post a while back about a similar version of record run. Here is the link:

Inappropriate? This is a pretty common need and feature request. We all seem to have live, regular programming that needs to be encoded off the first run, and then played back off the server for subsequent runs.
We have several-- the most pressing is a live daily morning program from a high school, which is encoded, but then plays back off the server each evening at 11 PM. Every day I need to change the format and resend autopilot in order for the show to replay. Since I set up three months worth of programs at one sitting, it would be great to enter all this information only once (create the show IDs, schedule the shows on the appropriate days, record the runs, and have the subsequent runs change format to the video server). Heck, throw in enabling 'On Demand' and we've got a party!!
If there's one feature request I'd love to see in the next release it would be this one!
I’m eternally optimistic
