RSS Feeds
Hello,
This is my first post to the forum, I recently purchases a Carousel sytem for Concordia University in St. Paul, MN.
First, I really like the new site design! Well done!
Second, I notice that the RSS feed plug in is now finished. I am curious, though, does this plug in take RSS feeds from other sources and create slides for them, or does it take the slides and generate its OWN RSS feed that students, family, alumni, etc... can access online? I was thinking it was the latter, but after seeing the PDF on the website it looks like the former.
Thanks,
Zach Schuster

Inappropriate?Zach,
Actually, it goes both ways. You can create RSS bulletins that pull data down from your favorite feeds to create bulletins or crawls with RSS data, but under the "Extras" menu there is a link that is a RSS Feed from the Carousel machine. It gives out all the basic text data contained in your bulletins.

Chad, is this feature available now? Is it a free plug in and how how would I go about getting the upgrade?
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Zach,
We've talked already but for everyone's benefit, RSS is out and available now in Carousel 4.1. The RSS Output is free and included, however the RSS Input is a licensed plugin. Those interested should contact their dealer for plugin pricing.

I see where I can get xml code generated for the schedule, but doesn't it make sense that I would need the page link for the xml for RSS feeds as opposed to pasting in xml text to create a page every day or days? I want my site to automatically generate the schedule not for me to have to do more busy work. Also, where can I format what fields get exported into the XML? -

Can you at least tell us what the suggested retail price is? -
Inappropriate?Brent, suggested retail for the RSS plugin is $675.
Mike, could you clarify this a bit? You should just be able to plug in the channel URL into whatever will be ingesting the RSS data and leave it hands-free after that. (Unless i'm missing something, which happens!)
