Inappropriate? From Scala you can "Publish" your slides as jpegs and then upload them one by one as a new Carousel page.
-
Inappropriate? In the upcoming release of Carousel 4.0, you are able to upload a 'bulletin package'. This is a .zip file of jpeg images to import. In addition to the jpegs, you can create a text file in the package that contains on/off date and times, titles, etc. So you could 'Publish' your Scala bulletins, zip them up, and upload them into Carousel as a batch.
Thanks for the 'Publish' info Shelby!

Inappropriate?Holy Crap! You can put a text file in for the schedule? How come I'm 16 feet away from your office and I didn't know we had this feature!

Inappropriate?Do not meddle in the affairs of Tightrope programmers, for they are subtle, and quick to genius.

Inappropriate?I figured out how to do this - Here is the procedure for using
SCALA MM200:
First - Open Scala, and a script you want to export.
Second - Set all the pages in the script to respond to mouse commands
Third - Run Script
Fourth - Click CTRL+ALT+F12 to capture a Bitmap Screenshot, which is automatically labeled starting at 00000 through XXXXX and is stored in the program files\scala\mm200\snapshots directory.
Fifth - Import them into photoshop and convert BMP to JPG by clicking the Image Mode to RGB, and clicking save as from the start menu and title and save as a *.jpg
Sixth - Upload page as a JPG in Carousel.
One Question -
Does Carousel support animated GIF's
Suggestion -
Can you make Carousel support BMP's so I don't have to convert them? -
Inappropriate?First off, thanks for taking the time to research and post that method on the forum! I'm sure that will come in handy for someone in the future.
Secondly, no, Carousel doesn't support animated gif files. I'm not certain of how version 3 handles bmp files... I'll ask JJ when I see him next.
Thanks again!

Inappropriate?Carousel 3.5 should accept .bmp files just as it does .jpg files.

Inappropriate?Excellent, thanks for the info.
Apparently, The best thing to do is to upload anything animated as an AVI or MPEG file. Also how do I get FLASH files into the BBS, do I need a plugin or just to download the flash player? -
Inappropriate?Flash files are part of the Multimedia Package addon to Carousel 4.0, which also supports playback of PowerPoint and Mpeg2 files. Contact Andy here at Tightrope or your local dealer for pricing information.

I have zipped a file of jpegs and uploaded them through the Media upload link. Where will this jpegs show up and how do I access them to use them? I have looked in the Pictures folders where my other uploads land and have not found them. When will you have a manual available to answer these how to questions?

A small caveat that hasn't been mentioned yet is that the zip file that you upload to the Media section needs to have folders inside it named "Pictures" or "Backgrounds" or "Videos" or "Sounds" etc. Your media files should go into these folders depending on where you'd like them to appear in the Media Section.
For example, if you have a set of 5 backgrounds and 2 pictures you'd like to upload, your zip file should have a directory structure as follows:
ZipFile/
Backgrounds/
Bkg1.jpg
Bkg2.jpg
Bkg3.jpg
Bkg4.jpg
Bkg5.jpg
Pictures/
Pic1.jpg
Pic2.jpg
Hopefully that makes sense.

Inappropriate? What format does video uploads need to be in?
Renee Haapapuro

Inappropriate?Video files can be of any format that Windows Media player can play back. We reccomend making sure that a video you want played back can be played through Windows Media Player before uploading it, as many video codecs out there arn't included in the Windows installation, but can be downloaded from the internet.

JJ,
What is the format of the text file that you would include in the ZIP to specify on/off times, text, etc? I'm looking for a way to automate (or at least make easier) the creation of slides where the text changes often. An example would be to pull data from our web calender to automatically update the slides on our channel.
Another way to go about it could be simmilar to how you pull data from the NOAA site to update the weather page. -
Inappropriate?JJ,
Running 4 and tried to use the bulletin package feature and I dont think it worked, here is what I did.
I created jpegs from a PPT presentation, labled 1-20, and zipped them up.
Log On on system
Main Menu of Carousel>New Bulletin
Uploaded>Upload bulletin package
Browse to zipped file>Upload
**Insert Girl from Ipanema background music here while it uploads**
Prompt says "The package "slide20.zip" has been uploaded. There are:"
(no number indicated)
buttons Save and Cancel
I hit save and it takes me back to What Kind of bulletin would you like to create?
i tried recreating it, changing the name, throwing chickens blood at it, all with no luck.
Probably just missing somethign here.

Inappropriate?John,
Couple of Questions on this:
I just tried
test1.zip/bulletin/image01.jpg
test1.zip/bulletin/image02.jpg
test1.zip/bulletin/image03.jpg
test1.zip/bulletin/image04.jpg
test1.zip/pictures/image01.jpg
and got nothing.
Does jpeg work for everything? I converted a PPT presentation to JPEGs and wanted to schedule the 20plus slide at once.
For example, if you have a set of 5 backgrounds and 2 pictures you'd like to upload, your zip file should have a directory structure as follows:
ZipFile/
Backgrounds/
Bkg1.jpg
