Should I make a change in Cablecast while VSX is out of service?
Is there some change I should make in Cablecast while the VSX is out of service? Whenever I run an autopilot for the programs we are running out of the decks and satellite, it tries to connect to the encoder and server and I get an "autopilot failed" message. I wouldn't mind, but it seems to be causing some communication problems.

Inappropriate?Mary,
You might want to dissable the VSX devices well this machine is in for service. Log into Front Door, Cablecast, Location Settings, I/O, Devices. You will want to deactivate the VSX Playback device and the Encoder. You will do this by un-checking the 'Active' check box.

Inappropriate?Might I have to boot Cablecast before this will make a difference? I just tried autopilot after making the devices inactive and it's still looking for them.
I’m curious

Inappropriate?Hey Mary Ellen,
Is autopilot still complaining that it can't contact the VSX? Or is it now complaining that it doesn't have a playback device for some runs?
With the video server disabled, I can imagine it might be having a hard time finding a device to play back digital files. I believe that it shouldn't still be trying to contact the disabled device. If it is, we might have a bug that needs fixing. :)

Inappropriate?Do you fix the bugs or do you exterminate them?

Inappropriate?Mary Ellen,
We have one more area we need to "dissable" the VSX server. You will need to log into Cablecast and goto Server Setup, Control Module Hosts.
This screen shot might look small in this post. Just click on it and it will load up the full size pic. You will want to select the check box for the VSX and hit delete. This will prevent Cablecast from trying to talk with your VSX server.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hi Grayson ~ That took care of it trying to connect, but I still get this error message:
The send FAILED.
An error occured sending to 'VSX'. Check the configuration or the physical connections.
No control module found in database with CMHID=2.
An error occured sending to 'Encoder'. Check the configuration or the physical connections.
No control module found in database with CMHID=2.
That said, the autopilot is working. Just thought you'd want to know. Thanks for your help ~ Mary Ellen
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?Mary,
Glad to here it is working, even with those errors. Cablecast shouldn't be showing those errors. This is a bug and we will look into fixing this in a future version of Cablecast.
Thanks,
Grayson
