Switching to a backup Cablecast server for automation
We have a Cablecast Pro and a separate SX-4.
The Cablecast Pro runs the automation - schedule and machine control, and the SX-4 is a dedicated video server. I'd like to know the procedure for backing up the system settings and schedule, etc., so we can easily promote the SX-4 to run the system as a backup in case the PRO machine goes down.
We intentionally have machine control only connected to Quatech serial boxes, so they should be easy to swap to the backup machine in case the need arises.

Inappropriate?John,
I am gathering information on the setup you would like to implement. I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I’m confident as well!

Inappropriate?John,
I might be able to shed some light on this. Step one would be doing a database backup
Backing up your data.
-Log into Front Door under the Admin account.
-Goto ‘Server Setup’, ‘Database Tools’.
-Select all of the databases and choose ‘Backup' to local server.
This will make backups in the d:\TRMS\Database\Backups directory on the PRO unit.
Step two would be placing those backups on the SX server in the same directory. This will allow you to import all of your settings, show records, ect ect to the SX server. -
Inappropriate?Like Grayson explained, all the settings, schedule and everything in Cablecast are stored in the SQL server database (Cablecast40). This database on the Cablecast Pro server and can easily be copied and restored onto the SX-4.
One thing you want to make sure of is to make a regular backup of the Cablecast40 database and store it on a different machine from the Pro because if the Pro is critically broken (started on fire or something) you will want a copy of the Cablecast database to restore.
