Triggering record with Cablecast
Maybe I am missing something simple but is there a way I can add an event in CableCast to kick a deck into record at a specified time while the program out remains on another deck? I want to automate some satellite recording this way.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?I believe that if your system is set up correctly, you can use the Record channel for a given location to accomplish this.
To set this up, you need to go into Location settings, then to the I/O tab, then to Devices. For the deck you want to record on, set it's "Device Function" to "Playback & Record". You also need to run cables from an available output on your router to the inputs of that deck, and enter the output number into "Router Output".
Then you simply go to the schedule, go to the record channel and add an event. Then Set the desired source, desired output, start time and length.
In the event that you do not want the router to switch, the only way that I know of to accomplish that is, after you send autopilot, to then go into the event table, find the event for the recording you just set up, and change the "Input" to "no switch". YOu then need to hit save, and hit the down arrow to select all events, and then click send in the Event table screen.
Hope this helps.

Inappropriate?I can vouch for the fact that the record routine works!!!! I've used it many times to record programming from satellite to both video server and tape.

Inappropriate?Great! I had set up a record deck already in devices but what I was missing was the fact that that tiny little word "record" was appearing at the top of the schedule.
I just set one up so we shall see.
Thanks so much. -

Inappropriate?Just to follow up, it's working great. Every week day it faithfully records at 2am and then replays off the same deck at 10am. Automated tape delay woo-hoo!!
Thanks all.
