Various issues fixed by re-booting server (once a day)
SX4 server channel 2 - no sound playing. Checked physical connections - appear to be ok. Finally resort to a reboot of the server. The Re-boot fixed the problem. It is becoming apparent that rebooting the SX4 fixes many problems. My question is this; how many times a day should one reboot the SX4 server as preventative maintenance? We are seriously thinking about rebooting every 24 hours and scheduling it for the middle of the night. My second question: Is this "normal" to have to reboot a video server once a day? Or is there an inherent problem that is causing frequent problems that range from various audio to video issues? "Video stuttering" during playback from the server was also fixed with a re-boot. This is the third problem that we have had that was resolved temporarily by re-booting the machine. We have been working directly with service techs in getting our issues resolved, but when I can't get in touch with someone - I simply re-boot and it at least fixes the problem temporarily. Again, I ask, is there a deeper problem that is at hand?

Inappropriate?Yes there is a deeper problem at hand. Some of our customers (and if someone else has this issue, please chime in) have issues with audio dropping out on their SX servers.
The short of it is that it has to do with the way that we work with the video server hardware. We are (very) actively working on the issue by rewriting that portion of our video server code.
One question that I'll ask is: are you sure that your video is not encoded at 30 fps instead of 29.97? That will cause the behavior to happen much more frequently than normally happens. Most of our customers that see this issue once every month or so. Once a day seems like you may have some files that are contributing to the issue. -
Inappropriate?Have same problems. Just posted. There are no dates on this string that I can see so I don't know how recent any of this is. Can't help u but it does feel nice to know you're not alone.

Inappropriate? My original post was over a year ago. One of the susequent software upgrades fixed most all of our problems. We still reboot about once a week as a precautionary/preventative measure, not necessarily to fix any recurring problems.
