Video files audio
I'm having audio level problems with video files mixed in with our bulletins.
Audio level is fine in our NLE (FCP) and in Quicktime Pro, even good in windows media. When playing back on Carousel, its level is drastically lower than the line input audio (which is a good level).
Anyone else having that problem and/or know how to boost the video files' audio in Carousel? (If I boost the audio in the NLE and output that way, it comes out overmodulated).

Inappropriate?Steve,
I you boost the audio on the NLE and it overmodulates, the audio loss is further down the line. Where does the audio go when it comes out of the NLE, i.e., what is in the audio chain?
Figure out where in the chain the audio level is being dropped, and boost it at that point. Be aware it might be dropped at more than one point!

Inappropriate?Steve,
I Just want to double check you said you are using FCP with Carousel ? not Cablecast? I some times mix these up.
If it is Carousel is it just video clips that are playing back low? Well the slide show audio is fine?
Can you plug in audio meeter in to the line output jack of Carousel to see what it is reading and that it match is what is going in?
One other idea, if the setup is new or has been changed check the wiring. the 1/8" Jack on the carousel is stereo unbalanced most public access station broadcast in mono witch means at some point the audio channel 1(L) and channel 2(R) get mix or y together could be an audio phasing problem. I see this problem every once in a wile well people are tying to tie unbalanced stereo audio in to mono balanced jack.

Inappropriate? There is a mixer control panel that lets you adjust the WAV and Line Input levels separately. I'd look there first.
