video playback in bulletin slide not fully playing out
Inserted video block in a bulletin template and the video begins playing, but cuts off after 18 seconds. The video psa is 90 seconds. I changed the criteria so that the system doesn't determine the length to play the slide and typed in 90 seconds. It still cuts off after 18 seconds or so. Other videos that are 30 seconds or less play just fine.

Inappropriate?Hi Dick,
Hmm... The DisplayEngine is supposed to continue playing a bulletin video until the clip has finished, then move on to the next bulletin. I wonder if there's some sort of glitch in that clip at 18 seconds that is causing the DisplayEngine to "think" that the clip is done?
What kind of video is it? Can you play the entire 90 seconds start to finish in Windows Media Player? If you can, then we should probably get a copy of the clip to test in-house.

I’m sorry about the troubles

Inappropriate?John, the was given to me so I am not exactly sure what format it is. It does play in Windows Media as well as from the cablecast if I schedule it out. How do I get you the file?
Thanks,
Dick
I’m not as frustrated

Inappropriate?Dick,
Can you email me the file so I can load it o a test machine in house? Also, what version of the software are you running?

I’m trying to get this put to bed.

Inappropriate?Dick-
Thanks for the file. I loaded it on a couple machines here at the office and found windows media player to think it was a 5 second file. I tried playing it back through some different players and was able to see the whole video (about 30 seconds).
If you watch the time line when playing it back in Windows Media Player, it only advances to 4 seconds, yet it plays the entire file. When I uploaded this into a Carousel system, I got similar results to you.
I found this video:
http://www.cdc.gov/cfs/PSAs/MissingMy...
Which I believe is the same one. I uploaded it into Carousel and it played back just fine.
I believe the problem was a corrupt or unfinished file. Try the link above and let me know if it's still a problem or if this is happening to other videos.
Thanks Dick.

Inappropriate?Sorry, Pete I didn't get back to you sooner. I did download it again and it plays just fine now.
However, I have loaded other videos from SpeedEdit and they either don't work, or worked initial and then don't playback anymore. Can you give me the best settings for me to use when rendering a file for Carousel? I will render it as a windows media file, but need to know the best specifications to use.
Thanks,
Dick
I’m happy, but not fully satisfied

We don't do anything fancy to the actual video file. We'll actually launch a helper version of Windows Media Player to play the file. The trick will be to get it to play nicely in Windows Media Player and you should be all set.

Inappropriate?Speed Edit might be the culprit - We've been having issues exporting files from the tricaster beacuse of the specific 'flavor' of mpeg that it uses. Check out the discussion here http://gsfn.us/t/l7i and at the Newtek web forums...
