Video upload in Carousel???
Isn't there a way to upload a video announcement into Carousel???
I thought that there was. We have some PSA that were made by a school and we would like to up load them into Carousel to use for commercial purposes rather than using a tape deck for less than 5 minutes of video. I suppose the MPEG2 server could work to I would just have to schedule in times for them though. I would rather they ran within Carousel when the programming has stopped for the evening.
If there is a way to upload a video segment into Carousel...what is the prefered format??? MPEG2?

Inappropriate?I am running videos. Go to CAROUSEL: MEDIA: VIDEO CLIPS AND click ADD and select the file. Once you have added it add a new bulletin and select a video template and pick the video file you just added. I did not have any luck with MPEG2 I use AVI.

Inappropriate? The current version of Carousel does this very well. There are, however, problems with some codecs used to encode the clips that can create more problems. Also, make sure you have the audio output of the carousel connected to your system and are not using a CD or FM tuner for background audio directly or you won't get audio from the clip.
Someone may need to confirm this for me, but I believe there was a duration limit on clips played through Carousel to about three minutes on older versions. Was that a recommendation or an actual limit?
Hope this was helpful,

Inappropriate?I was wondering the same thing, regarding time limits. Is there a time limit to audio files or video files?

Inappropriate? There used to be a 2 gig file size limit. Not sure if that is the case. The issue with video in Carousel is that if a show happens to start durring a Carousel video, the carousel video will get cut off.
That's why it would be cool to have a tighter integration between cablecast and carousel. Cablecast's error management durring autopilot could look for a show sceduled to start in the middle of a carousel video and tell carousel not to play it that instance.

Inappropriate? We've been having a problem with carousel outputting video. Our Carousel monitor displays the template with the video playing in it fine, but the output to television only displays the template background with an empty black box where the video should be. Has anyone ever solved this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Inappropriate? It sounds like the TV output isn't set as the "Primary" output. You can change this by shutting down the display engine on the affected Carousel and returning to the desktop. From here, left click on the "NVidia Settings" Icon down by the system clock. Towards the top half of the menu should be "Nvidia Display Settings" which you'll want to have set to "Clone" and then "TV plus Monitor" and NOT "Monitor plus TV." This is because the video cards can only render live video to one output at a time, not both the VGA and TV outputs. Once you switch that over your problem should be resolved! Let us know if that doesn't do it for you. Thanks!
