I followed Ray's advice to another user - no problem with our static IP address.

Inappropriate?FYI - If this is running on an XP box see the NOTE below...
You may be the only one logging in but how many people are on your public site?
403.9 - Too many users. The number of users who are connected to the server exceeds the connection limit that you have set. For additional information about how to change this limit, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
248074 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/24807... ) Error Message: Access Forbidden: Too Many Users Are Connected 403.9
NOTE: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional automatically impose a 10-connection limit on IIS. You cannot change this limit -
22 people have access, but I'm lucky if I get two bulletins a week to approve. I'm the only one who accesses it on a regular basis and I've only added two users to the system in the last month and haven't had a problem of this nature until now. I find it hard to believe the error message is diagnosing the problem accurately. -

Inappropriate? There might be some other reasons why the "Too many users" error is happening... basically, it doesn't just have to be real live humans who are accessing the system.
Each instance of the Carousel DisplayEngine can use up to 2 connections at a time. Additionally, if you're using the Carousel ScreenSaver, it will also use at least one connection. Similarly, the Cablecast public website will use some connections as well. So, the connection count can add up pretty quickly.
Just some ideas. Do you think your public site is getting more traffic than usual?

I don't think we are getting more trafiic than usual. I think this is connected to carousel geting stuck. Grayson reported, "I worked with John this morning and was able to get the system back up and running. The machine was not outputting a VGA or composite signal nor was it connecting to the network. Long story short we hard booted the machine and it started working." So it seems Carousel is working, but I still can't access the server remotely. -
Inappropriate?Sorry, Grayson's message was to another person with the same problem. I thought he was taking about a John that happened to be at the studio this morning. Nevermind. I'll try a hard boot (I didn't want to do this over the weekend and not be able to get anything going) and see what happens. Later. ~ Mary ellen

Inappropriate? We are getting the exact same issue with only one physical user connected to the system. I have even taken the box off of the public IP address so there is no chance that it is taking outside hits. It seems as though ISS will lock us out for 10-30 minutes at a time. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. But this is a brand new box with only a day on it when the problem started.
I’m frustrated.

Inappropriate?Kris,
If you go to the start menu, click 'Run' and type 'cmd' and then click ok. Once the cmd window is open, type 'netstat -a' to see current open connections to the machine, and post those here. Thanks!

Inappropriate?Kris,
I just heard from Grayson that you're well on your way to having a happy working Carousel. I hope the update continues to treat you well, and please don't hesitate to let us know if you run into any more issues. Thanks for choosing Tightrope! -
Inappropriate? We will see about the ISS issue. The other issue (I will make a post there) was a version issue. D/L and installed 5.2.2 and it seems to be fixed.
