What about updating dotnet framework

Are you wondering if it is okay to install .NET 3.0/3.5/etc? In short, yes, you can install the newer versions of the framework. Just make sure you don't uninstall 2.0.

The newer versions are basically "additive," meaning they extend the framework, rather than replace it. Our software runs on .NET 2.0, so it will continue to use the 2.0 version, even if you install 3.5, because there's nothing in 3.5 that it needs.

So, if you need to install 3.5, you can, but there's really no reason to do it if you're just looking to stay up to date.
