Inappropriate? It is best to assign static internal IP addresses for the Cablecast machines. These settings are for allowing the public to view your Stream, view on demand shows, view the built in Cablecast public site..
The public web siteand RSS schedules are all hosted on your Cablecast server. These features all use TCP 80.
By default the Stream Live server uses TCP 8080.
VOD servers will need TCP Ports 554 and 1755, along with UDP ports 1755 and 5005.
There are additional ports that Cablecast and Carousel use. See the 'TRMS Install Guide' (section 4.5) <http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...>.

Inappropriate?Ok...It's the streaming server I've been informed, not VOD, and Grayson has said I only need 8080 open on the firewall...I have...I have it pointed to our live server...still nothing...the server sends out a reset will kills the connection. Cisco ASA

Inappropriate?Brian,
Port 8080 should be the only port you need forwarded for the Streaming Live servers... Are you able to access the live stream from inside your own network? If so, then the streaming server is working properly, and there must be a configuration problem with your router/firewall.
Unfortunately, we can't help troubleshoot configuration problems with routers or firewalls, due to the sheer number of various models out there on the market today.
Do you have a network admin in your organization who might be able to help troubleshoot your Cisco device, assuming the live streaming server is working internally?

Inappropriate?John, I have Cisco on the phone, and they have 8080 opened, pointed to the server ip. this is what they sent back...
Brian,
Do you have an internal security feature on the server that is resetting
the connection to outside users? I am telling you this because from the
syslogs is the server that is resetting the connection. Thank you. -
Inappropriate? So should this setting be the internal ip of the server? or the external "incoming" ip?

Inappropriate? That setting should be the external, "public" address. This setting defines the URL that your viewers will see when they want to stream your channel from the public website.
If streaming from the public website works inside your network but not outside, you probably have the internal "private" URL entered.

Inappropriate? We changed it to the external ip, and can get to it from inside using the server ip,, 192.168.xx.xx but not internally using the external ip. I get the same result as from the outside. Does that unit need to be rebooted after changing that ip to the external?
i'll pick up on this tomorrow...I'm done for the night...
