Why doesn't my video file have audio when it's uploaded as a Carousel bulletin?
Why doesn't my uploaded Carousel bulletin video file have audio? I tried the buttons for fading the background audio up or down, and it made no difference.

Inappropriate?Cor,
Do you ever hear audio from Carousel? Are you certain that the audio output from your Carousel is connected to your system? This is the most common reason for not hearing audio.

Inappropriate?I'm wondering if there was a solution to this problem. I have background audio running throughout, but when I upload a video (converted .vob to .mpg then uploaded) and schedule it as a bulletin, it has no audio when it runs (although the background music does fade down for the bulletin).

Hey Greg, I wonder if the file is using an audio codec that's not installed on the player computer. Can you hear audio in the file when you play it back on the player computer using something like windows media player? --John -
Thanks, John. You are right, there is no audio output from the player, and WMP tells me it could not find some codecs that may affect playback. Is there a decent all around video converter out there that I can buy, and what format should I be using. I primarily use Vista, and sometimes XP. Many of my files will be .vob (from DVD) that I would like to convert and upload. -
Greg:
I might recommend MPEG Streamclip. Great price and works like a charm. It will see all of your installed codecs as well. -
Thanks for the input...I did download MPEG Streamclip and it works great. However, now Windows Media Player is seeing the audio codec but the bulletin is still airing without audio output. I converted the video file's audio to MP2 (so the video is MPEG-2, audio is 192 MP2, 148 kHz, 384 kbps). I know audio files need to be MP3 or WAV when uploaded, but what should a video file audio's format be (or what is best/preferred?)? Any help in easing my frustration would be appreciated. -

Will respond as soon as I return to the office... -
Inappropriate?Hi Chad, You're right, our Carousel audio ouput is not connected, because we use the local radio station as our background audio, which is set as a separate input to play when the Carousel is on (we have a TelVue server). How could we get the radio station to play through the Carousel so we could use it for both audio and video? By streaming the radio station over the internet on the Carousel unit?
Thanks,
Cor -
Inappropriate?Cor,
You should have no issues getting that to work if you feed your local radio station into the line input on the back of your Carousel unit. (The blue 1/8" stereo mini jack)
You'll also need to set the background audio settings to use the line input (Configure : Channel : <your> : Background Audio Settings) and connect the green line output from the Carousel to the audio input of the routing switcher.
