Will VOD files remain after tossing Mpeg originals?
I have a question that may be obvious to everyone but me, but here goes...
Do files that have been transcoded to a VOD server remain after being removed from the SX-4 server. The reason I ask, I would like to clean out files on the SX-4 that will no longer be used on our cable channel (ie: Council Meetings from February), but have them remain available on demand. I would assume transcoded files remain until one were to manually remove them, but I would prefer not to toss out a massive Mpeg file for space reasons and have the VOD file vanish by some automated process of which I'm not aware.

Inappropriate?Hi dburkhart,
We don't remove any of the VOD files via any automated processes, so you should be good to remove the "source" mpeg files from the video server and the VOD files will remain. I believe the only way to remove them from the VOD server is to actually go in and delete them by hand.
You could always make a backup of the VOD files, as they're nowhere near as large as the source mpeg files. Might be a good idea to do anyway, in case of disaster. :)

Inappropriate?Perfect. I assumed that, but I didn't want to have to answer any embarrassing questions from the boss if everything went wonky.
I’m cool with that!
