Windows XP SP3
What is the status of WinXP SP3 and TRMS products? Are there any product we should not load SP3 on?

David,
Good question! The Cablecast 4.8 update allows XP SP3 to be installed without issue. If you're not running 4.8 already, request a download key from support@trms.com. Enjoy!

Inappropriate?Do not install SP3 on any TRMS equipment just yet.
Some of the drivers for the SX are not certified to work with SP3, and there is a KB patch that makes video playback unstable in Caorusel that got rolled up into SP3.
So until further notice, steer clear of SP3.

Inappropriate?DARN! I just loaded that on Cablecast yesterday. Everything seems to be working, but we have an older video server and not running video on Carousel. Nonetheless, I guess I'll be doing an uninstall tomorrow.
-
Inappropriate?Jeff, in your case you are OK. VS4 video servers are fine with SP3. On Carousel, there is a *rare* case that the KB roll up into SP3 will affect video playback on. If it is working for you then I would just leave it on SP3.

So what do you do if you downloaded SP3 before this message was posted on a system that has Carousel installed? I'm assuming it has to be removed, but how do you do that? -
alferoj: There probably isn't any reason to uninstall it. As JJ mentioned, there's only a rare instance in which Carousel might have an issue playing back video files. If you notice videos not playing back correctly in Carousel, let us know and our support team can roll it back for you. -
Inappropriate? For the record, I'm on SP3 - update prior to checking if it was ok - and I am having the problem with video playback on the carousel machine. May roll-back to SP2.

Inappropriate? So my Windows Updates are all nagging me to update my machines to SP3. We have a VS4, VOD, Carousel Players, Cablecast Pro, Streaming Servers, and DSK. Is there anything in this list that I should avoid with SP3? It's been a couple of months so I'm looking for an update...

Inappropriate?I know this is an old question but I want to re-ask this. Have things changed so that XP SP3 can be installed on Cablecast machines. We have an SX-4 which is the only XP machine in the building without SP3.
All of our machines have Powershell 1.0 for administration. In a few months, Powershell 2.0 will be released for XP and it will almost certainly require SP3. I really want to bring the SX-4 up to the same SP level as the other XP machines, and I need the remote administration capabilities of PowerShell 2, since we will be moving our office PC's to Windows 7 (which includes PowerShell 2) at the end of the year.
I’m uncertain
