can I embed a video in a text post? my text post references a youtube video, and I'd love to embed it.

Well, in this case, I'd prefer to just embed the video in the context of my text post. It's relevant right in the middle of the text post. -

Inappropriate?Hi, folks. The easiest thing to do would be to just create a Video post. But, assuming you need a Text post for some reason, it may be that the Rich Text Editor is altering the video embed code that you're using.
You can switch to the Plain Text/HTML editor by going to the Dashboard, clicking the Account menu, choosing Preferences, and looking in the Advanced Options.
After that, you can create a text post that uses straight text and HTML, including your video embed code. It should post without a problem. And, you can revert back to the Rich Text Editor after you're done with the post by going back to to the Preferences page if you like.

Mark's suggestions do work, but beware when you edit a text post with a video embed. For some reason, the embed is lost when the text post is edited and then saved.

Would there be a way for the WYSIWYG editor to be toggled in post edit mode (but default to what you set in Preferences)?
And not by using the HTML mode of the Rich-text editor, because that still forces the submission to be pushed through the WYSIWYG's HTML filter. :) -
