Gravatar for Tumblr
I'd really like the option to use Gravatar on my Tumblr account rather than uploading an image. It would make mine, and many other people's life so much easier!

Inappropriate?Just as with Twitter, I think all these services need to start using some sort of standard for things like avatars. Here's to hoping they include it in v4.

Gravatars are linked with a generated URL. If you get the URL for your email adress you could simply link to that instead of using the PortraitURL tags.
Tumblr doesn’t support comments so you will only need it for your own image. That would solve your problem for now.
How exactly would you like them to implent it? An extra tag next to {PortraitURL-**} with {GravatarURL-**}? But then the theming engine will have to ‘guess’ what email address to use. Especially on multi-user Tumblrs. Unless you limit the tags to only be used inside {block:Posts} but that wouldn’t be backwards compatible with {PortraitURL-**}.
Would be nice if we could come up with tags and discuss them somewhere.
