How can I use tumblr with my students?
Can I put up class notes, curriculum, activities etc like Moodle? What's the advantage of Tumblr over wikis?

Inappropriate?Wikis are good for sharing and collaborating on documents. So as a medium they'd be quite good for class notes, curriculum and syllabuses.
While you *could* post these kinds of information on Tumblr that's not really what it's designed for. It's a "tumblelog", which makes it easy to post anything digital in a quick and dirty way. The idea is to remove all the friction from saving/sharing the things that have meaning for you--quotes, links, videos, images, audio. You don't need to worry about being witty, adding commentary or even adding titles. You might think of it as a digital scrapbook of your online travels.
Simplicity is at the heart of a tumblelog and Tumblr is beautifully simple to use.
One of the nice things about Tumblr is that you can link to other web services you may use--Twitter, Flickr, LastFM, your blog, etc--and your activity on those services will appear inline on your Tumblr feed. This allows you to create what some people are calling a "lifestream", an aggregate view of what you're doing all across the Web. You might even be able to flow in your activity on Moodle.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate? You could use the "channels" feature to allow your students to help one another with questions or share information with the rest of your class class, but, as Thor said, a wiki, or a traditional website with an assignments download page, is a better option.
I’m in love with Tumblr!
