Twitter feeds not being imported
I added a couple of Twitter feeds to my Tumblr, and it says "
Importing "Twitter / aaronrester" as full text without titles" etc. ; however, the feeds do not appear to be being imported.
My Tumblr is: http://aaronrester.tumblr.com/

Inappropriate?Hi, Aaron. We are aware of this issue and are working to get it resolved. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your patience!
Marc :-) -
Any ETA for a solution? Thanks! -
Apparently this has been fixed because my Tumblr just imported a bunch of recent Twitter activity. Check it: www.lifeisathrill.com. -
Inappropriate? We are waiting for Twitter to resolve this issue. Thanks for your patience.
Marc :-) -
Inappropriate? This has been fixed for me. Not sure whether others are having the same experience.
I’m pleased, for now.
-
Inappropriate? This seems to be an intermittent problem. Sometimes it works, often times it doesn't.
Almost like twitter is cutting of tumlbr's access or tumblr not accessing twitter's API correctly. (I have no idea, just guessing)
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? They have not ever worked again for me, on Tumblr, after they stopped. And Twitter feeds get through without any issues to my Friendfeed account.
So are you SURE it's only a Twitter issue?
I’m confused
-
I'm not sure. And Twitter thinks its Tumblr too: http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to... -
Inappropriate?All,
This problem seems specific to Tumblr pulling feeds from Twitter and it seems to be intermittent.
Tumblr takes this issue seriously and will work with Twitter to resolve it as quickly as we can. Thanks for your patience.

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem but I'm just wondering if this has anything to do with Twitter limiting the number of connections per hour (as described here http://iconfactory.com/software/show/...).
If you are using an app like Twitterific then maybe the number of connections (for that user) is reaching it's limit and Tumblr can't do it's update.
Just a theory. -
Inappropriate? The twitter feed integration used to work flawlessly when I started my Tumblr account, but it has continued to fall over on a daily basis for the last three months now.
The responses I have had from Tumblr Customer Support thus far, appears to suggest that Twitter is at fault, however no other site / service that I am currently subscribed to has this problem.
Has anyone at Tumblr taking ownership of this issue? If so, what is the status please? It is becoming increasingly frustrating!
I first wrote to Tumblr Support on the 28th of July 2008 and nearly three months on, the problem is still not resolved.
If you are indeed still "working with Twitter on this issue" as I have been told a number of times now via customer support, can you please be a little more transparent and let us know what is going on, particularly regarding an ETA for a potential fix.
Love your work Tumblr, however regarding this particular issue I can't help feeling that you have dropped the ball. Some information about what is being done (if anything) would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks.
I’m extremely frustrated
-
Inappropriate? We heard from Twitter yesterday that this issue would likely be resolved within 24 hours. Our apologies for the delay.
Marc :-) -
Here's hoping I am indeed psychic and that Twitter resolves the issue once and for all (fingers crossed). Thank you for the update. -
Inappropriate? We will look into it. Thanks for your continued patience!

Inappropriate? You know what? Here is an idea: forget publishing my tweets. I'd much, much, much rather have the ability to choose tumblr posts to publish to Twitter. Tumblr is the main forum for all my bullshit and I'd rather pull people into Tumblr than vice versa.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?I am so in the same place as madthoughts - Any chance you guys are working on that sort of functionality?
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?I am having the same challenges. And when it does import, it imports several feeds and assigns them all the time that it imported instead of the time it was posted to twitter.
-
Inappropriate?Same problem here. I thought I may be able to bypass the problem by having Tarpipe make the connection instead of Tumblr, but I'm not sure if that's possible.
-
Inappropriate? This is clearly a Tumblr issue. I have a Wordpress plugin that also pulls from Twitter and it does it perfectly - it does it every 15 minutes and the times reported are the times I posted the tweets (not when the feed is pulled).
I've stopped importing twitter into tumblr. After 4 months, I don't know if they are working on it...
I’m amazed no one seems to care
-
Inappropriate?Well, I've had to give up on Tumblr. The RSS issues are a major disincentive to use the service, which is really rather sad.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I also have given up on Twitter importing to Tumblr as well as importing Facebook status feeds via RSS (though that seems to be a Facebook issue). My workaround is to post using Ping.fm. This allows direct updating of Tumblr so when I post to Facebook or Twitter I can choose to also post the same message to Tumblr. Pretty happy with the results so far.
-
Inappropriate?I've been using Twittermail.com. Twittermail.com gives you an email address you can use to publish tweets. Since my phone can send emails, I simply send the message to both the twittermail and my tumblr post addresses.
I’m indifferent
-
Inappropriate?well... this is all quite lame. I'm all excited about tumblr as I've just signed up and immediately started having this problem. Seems kinda weak that I have to come up with some work around to get twitter posts in there.
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. Just signed up for Tumblr, was pretty excited about the service, and then nearly immediately ran into this. Lame.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem with other feeds too. In one of my tumblelogs I use twitter. In another I use feeds from Ning. One a few posts get through to tumblr. Most of them never make it there. This does not sound like a twitter issue to me at all.
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?I simply cannot believe that nearly a year later, Tumblr has still not resolved this issue...
Are they actually doing anything about it? The issue only occurs with Twitter, and only occurs with Tumblr. Crazy and maddening really, because I always want my tweets to appear in Tumblr, never want my Facebook updates (which I only want my friends to see) to appear outside of Facebook, except when I knowingly send the same status updates to Facebook as to Twitter (in which case I don't want to have to do it twice). This is impossible to achieve given Tumblr's inability to import from Twitter, which is clearly something they have no serious intention of remedying the issue.
Having said that, there is a robust workaround:
(1) use ping.fm, which posts very reliably to a whole set of social networks and also to Tumblr, to post and set up posting groups;
(2) set up as many groups as you ned combinations (I set up #F (only Facebook); #T (Twitter and Tumblr, but not Facebook); and #FT (Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr).
Always use ping.fm to post status updates and simply precede them with the appropriate hashtag (#F, #T or #FT). On the iPhone, Twitterfon pro, which is packed with features to make posting easier, can be set up to post via ping.fm.
I’m confused
-
Inappropriate?Dunno if this is the same issue -- my twitter feed is taking forever (like 8-9 hours) to import, and when it does, the timestamps are all very, very wrong -- half of them are out of order.
I’m frustrated
-
And just noticed; a number of items don't even show up at all -- it's pretty terrible -
Inappropriate? All, there may still be intermittent issues with the Twitter API that cause problems. Beyond that, please email support@tumblr.com with your blog web address and Twitter userid so we can look into things further. Thanks!
Marc :-)

Inappropriate?I've emailed support.
Intermittent issues with the Twitter API doesn't seem to explain why the timestamps are so wrong though -- surely you should use the timestamp on the tweet? The exact same thing is happening with Flickr -- whenever tumblr does update, it seems to just lump everything together with the same (wrong) timestamp, making the whole thing totally non-sensical. -
It seems that whenever it imports a few at once, they show up with the oldest last (i.e. at the top), so they're actually in backward order. -
Inappropriate?Other apps have no problem pulling in feeds from twitter, on time and with the right time stamps. I have a plugin that does this for wordpress and it works fine. Only Tumblr has this issue...
