Just Got Clarification From Tweep. Here are some Details.
my email then TweepMe's response. hope this helps clarify. this should be a great way to find lots of other active people to communicate and collaborate with.
-------------------------------------
i wanted to know how it works. i signed up, but do i have to do
anything or is it automatic? do i have to click on the little images?
thanks,
me
--------------------------------
Nope. It's completely automatic and will begin tomorrow evening. This is not instant by design. It is a gradual process that will take weeks to months depending on the amount of members. We've done this as to not overload twitter or your account.

What's the point of a having thousands of followers you don't know and who won't read your tweets because they have thousands of followers themselves??? -
I will be very happy; that's the point. I will feel like a superstar twitter/blogger. Who wouldn't want that? :-)) -
So a few thousand fake followers who aren't actually reading your tweets or your blog makes you feel like a superstar? Gosh, you must be easily impressed. Are you also impressed by somebody who pads their C.V. with jobs they've never worked? What other fake things impress you? -
Ok; My comment was said in jest. Peace to all. =)) -
Inappropriate?Thanks Joe.
We're not harvesting, nor spamming on behalf of our members. Members may leave at anytime by cancelling their account, or changing their Twitter password.
I’m silly
-
Of course you are spamming! Your promo tweets are being sent without explicit permission whenever somebody joins TweepMe. -
my account never sent the promo message. -
@pjebsen if you would look at what happens after you signin with your info than you'd see 3 options to promote TweepMe or not to. Thats on you; if you don't care to look at what you're signing into thats your own fault. -

@Dan Baby: The "Opt-Out" option didn't exist when I first registered. I have a screenshot to prove it. -
@pjebse my bad for comin off so harshly than :] -
Inappropriate? While I don't know yet if this is true (above - about promo tweets w/o express permission) I'd quit in a heartbeat if I found out it were true. :(
-
Until today, it wasn't possible to register for a free account without sending the promo spam. I have a screenshot to prove it. -
You only added an "Opt-Out" box today. When I registered a test account last night, it was not possible to get a free account without sending the spam tweet. -
Inappropriate?I think this is an awesome clarification topic. Everybody should tweet this in order the whole population of twitterer know about it.

I'm pretty sure the whole population of Twitterland has received the promo tweet many times already. -
What's "awesome" about having thousands of followers you don't know and who won't read your tweets because they have thousands of followers themselves??? -
pjebsen: I too am critical of the service (see: http://www.skinnywhiteboy.kastpod.org...), but there is a difference between constructive critisism and trolling. You sir (or Ma'am) need to GET A LIFE -
@SWB, if you want to be constructive, answer my previous question. -
Inappropriate?@pjebsen
There certainly IS expressed permission for the tweet going out - even before the option to not tweet was added.
Previously you gave said permission by signing up.
This was quite clear.
Either way there's now a "don't tweet" option so it's moot point.
Also the whole thing is opt-in - again intent/permission is clearly given to participate (whether or not the user decides to tweet the message).
Bottom line -no one has to use or be affected by TweepMe unless they choose to do so.
There is good news for you here - you don't have to sign up.
That way your follow / following counts can't be affected.
Simple.
It's odd to me that you are so violently opposed to something that you can choose not to participate in. What Others choose to participate in - is none of you concern.
Get a life of your own instead of trying to run everyone else's -
Inappropriate?Seems like the TweepMe guys are responding to the demands of Twitter users. Put the pitchforks away and let's let them fire this thing up so we can see what happens.
I’m curious
-
Inappropriate?I will never understand why some people like to inflicting themselves with punishment when all they have to do is avoid that punishment just take a high fly far beyond their suffering universe. Just go away and let live and enjoy other while you continue suffering in other universe far beyond this one. I totally agree with SWB.

Inappropriate?I agree - you can't follow thousands of followers... but I monitor my DM's and @ messages... and when I have a few minutes I scan my general area to see what catches my eye.... when something does - I communicate with that user... often that person becomes someone that I @ message with - then on ff I tweet out all the people I @ message. So while many followers are random and I have no relationship with - I am developing relationships with others that I never would have.
I've also been trying to get fans over at FB to claim my FB name - and people have been coming --- slowly, but almost every tweet has someone become a fan... If I only had a few followers - that wouldn't be the case.
Tweepme is not a cure all, but I think they were clear with what you would get and for where I was at (100) followers when I started - to now over 2800 it's been money well spent.
Prior to tweepme I was manually going to followme and handpicking people to follow... very time consuming.
I also have my twitter followers linked to my blog - having a larger number of followers - high quality or otherwise - add credibility (oddly). I have had many people that know me f2f - they see me and are comment on the number of people following me. I confess, but I know that many people don't know how social media works...
All in all - I'm happy.
