Can you dial international numbers?
Can you make an outgoing call to an international number, and, if so, does the same rate of $0.03 per minute apply?

Inappropriate?Hi TommyB,
Great question. We currently only support outgoing calls to the US and Canada, but incoming calls from international numbers are no problem.
Based on customer demand, we'll likely support international calling soon. The pricing is not yet determined, but we'll be sure to keep you up to date as we progress with this feature.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

Hi Aliix. Thanks for your reply. We know there are great international applications to be built. So we know your needs, are you thinking about dialing out from US numbers? Obtaining international phone numbers for your applications? Or both?
Thanks for the feedback.

Inappropriate?Hi. It would be great to be able to have a UK number for incoming calls. Seems a great developer tool - one of the best I've seen lately - and opens up a lot of power but as a UK user I can't see customers being happy about dialing a US number. Granted though, you've only just started, so I wish you all the success and hopefully one day you will have a UK version. All the best. :)
-
Hi Mike, thanks for the well wishes. It certainly seems like international capabilities are in demand, so we'll be working hard to get it done for you. If you have any other questions or comments, please keep 'em coming.

Inappropriate?I would like (well, for an idea that I have: NEED) to be able to call international numbers. (Technically, for me they aren't international :))
I understand that having incoming numbers in a lot of countries can be difficult, but outgoing should be possible (although it will make pricing more complex, I guess).
I’m Hoping this 'll happen soon!
-
Inappropriate?Thumbs up to the request for international dialing. I think it's a must-have (and is a make-or-break for the applications that we will deploy). It is ok to build and test with the US/Canada only dialing -- but I am hoping we will get international dialing soon (~1-2 months).
I’m waiting for international dialing to be included in the product roadmap
-
Inappropriate?I too would find International number support. Specifically, local inbound in India (preferably toll free), or cheap outbound to India.
-
Inappropriate?Another vote for international numbers.
I'd like a UK number - would it be possible to use a Skype number, and forward it to the US gateway number? -
Inappropriate?Ivote for international outgoing phone number as well.
Could you give any idea of when it would be supported ? Any plans ? It is extremely urgent and if you tell me next week I might wait otherwise find another solution. -
Inappropriate?Quick update: International calling is a high priority feature for us but figuring it a sensible structure that fits Twilio's simple pricing model is quite a challenge. As many of you know, rates vary widely among countries -- even month to month.
Those of you who are building apps launching in the next few weeks or months are probably best off looking at other solutions.
That said, keep those international requests coming! Let us know what countries you are interested in and whether you want to call phones in that country and/or need local phone numbers (DIDs).
We appreciate hearing what you need and why.

Inappropriate? For a certain usecase, I would like to call dutch mobile phones. That would only be outbound calling. I can imagine other use-cases which would need incoming calls, but I can imagine that setting up numbers in a lot of countries is more difficult that enabling outbound calls. So it would probably make sense to introduce those at 2 different stages.
I’m Looking forward to using Twillo!
-
Inappropriate?International numbers would be a *HUGE* plus.
Twilio guys, why don't you team up with the Skype guys - they are able to do this world wide!

Inappropriate?I would like to know how can i check Indian number, i am developing a j2me application and would like to use this API, can you please send me sample j2me code ...........??
-
Inappropriate? Are there any competitors of twilo that do support international calls? (I'd really like to work with twilo, but my case needs to use dutch numbers..).
-
Inappropriate?A vote for Sweden here. We could do so many cool things w/ this.
-
Inappropriate?I think this is a terrific idea. Here's the use case I'd be interested in:
- buying a national number in several different countries to receive inbound calls from those countries.
- calling numbers in any different country, fixed or mobile
Look forward to becoming a customer when this is in place! terrific idea, good luck to you. -
Inappropriate?Dial International OUT Get a prepaid calling service, fund it with your credit card. The good ones can recognize the number you are calling from and automatically pull up your account. Make a twilio REST call to dial the toll-free access number and get into your account Then simply get some sound files to emulate the number 0-9 and with a few lines of code play them in sequence to dial the international number you want out through the calling card service.
International Dialing IN Just Google "International Incoming DID Number" and you will see how easy it is to get an international DID number. Then you simply forward your DID to your twilio number and you are in business. -
Could someone who works at Twilio confirm whether or not this method for dailing OUT internationally will actually work? I realize that there are more potential points of failure (e.g. your calling card company changes their menus) but as long as I stayed on top of such changes, would this be ok?
I would like to call South Korea, and twilio's rate of $0.03/min plus OneSuite's rate of $0.07/min (http://www.onesuite.com/south-korea-p...) seems reasonable for my use case.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Yes- but you're in business spending silly money. If I wanted a UK number, which would then have to be forwarded to a US number, I'd need to have some application where the calls will *on average* pay me > 20c a minute.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi Twilio,
Just to add to this thread, I'm very interested in international outgoing calls as well.
Thanks,
Aris -
Inappropriate?I too had this question and am sad we, those outside US, has to wait to use this new thing locally. Just another query: Why don't you offer your technology to telco companies the world over, so that they can add this fucntionality themselves by paying you for the technology in a win-win setup? Better offer it as an Amazon/other virtual machine or so, so that there is no upfront investment required.
-
Inappropriate?Another vote for international outgoing calls!
I hope it'll be available ASAP. -
Inappropriate? Can I add my vote to this - I need inbound and outbound for the UK. Terrific service, please make it available to more of us so we can help it become and even bigger success! Don't walk, run - please
-
Inappropriate?I am suprised that this basic request is 8 months old and nothing has been done. Its far more imp.
Hope the team can give a release date for this feature
Cheers,
Vishal
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?Your service is really exciting. However, most of my website's users are from South Korea, Japan, and China. Can you please notify me when you are able to support calls to/from these locations?
@vishal, Unfortunately we will have to be patient. The infrastructure necessary is quite expensive. Twilio needs to be able to expect a lot of call volume to support a pay-as-you-go model.
@brandino, Are you aware of any applications using this model? Hooking up that many different services sounds quite unreliable (and expensive). I know I have had a lot of trouble with my DID number being forwarded to Skype. Many calls were lost.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Hello Internationalites,
We are pleased to announce the first phase of the International outbound calling rollout. Please email us at help@twilio.com to reserve your spot today.
We'll be enabling International calling for select customer starting next week! Information on pricing and calling destinations will be posted here when it's available.

Inappropriate?I got sent an international invite, but it's completely useless: you need to put more funds into your account but this can't be done because I don't have a US zip code (I'm in the UK).
If anybody knows any alternatives to Twilio that are TRULY international, please let me know, to be frank I've ran out of patience with Twilio and its obstinately US based focus, it's all a bit 90's really.
-
Inappropriate?Hey Mike, sorry to hear you are frustrated.
Twilio is in beta, and the invitation you received was to very early developer access to one of the international features we are rolling out. We are not yet fully supporting international customers for various business reasons, and we're working hard to change that. When Twilio becomes fully international we will certainly let you know, and if you'd prefer not to participate in the early developer program I understand. -

Inappropriate?Hi Danielle,
Congrats on this new release- exciting things you guys are up to!
Two follow-up questions:
1- any idea when the international numbers might be released?
2- is it on your roadmap to accept international billing addresses? or some alternative payment system like amazon or paypal? -
Inappropriate?Yep, can't use this as long as it requires a U.S. billing address.
-
Inappropriate?I'm looking to play with this technology from here in New Zealand .. however having to call a US number to test with is difficult and expensive.
Is there an option for those of us outside of the US to have a number to call (or even just have a web app we can "mimic" a phone call in) so we can test our ideas/apps before committing to a paid account?
I’m happy
-
What about using Skype to access the US test number? -
Inappropriate?DOH ... why didn't I think of that (I think it's time I went and drank some more coffee!!) Thanks for that
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Hi,
I am Govinda from India and I liked the concept and technology behind Twilio. However, its sad that you havent enabled incoming calls to emerging markets BRIC, and India in particular. I can tell you that there are a lot of cool applications to be written and the market potential of these emerging markets would be enormous given the fact that there are quite a lot of millions out there who are ready to espouse technology, but arent able to due to prohibitive costs of the internet. So, with the massive explosion in the telecom market in countries India, applications build on top of Twilio can create truly international applications.
Any idea if you are planning to support incoming, forward and outgoing calls to/from India?
Regards,
Govinda
