Yes, this must've been why it was working in the development version - I made the change that shimooka did a little while ago to avoid AJAX bugs. Looks like it was a good decision. :)
The fixed 1.2 is coming very soon, along with a much-requested feature. :)

Inappropriate?I so hope that Twitkit is still supported. Without it I would have given up on Twitter a long time ago. I don't want a full page app or a searchbar addon and I really dislike Twitbin. Twitkit is perfect, it doesn't hog my slow dialup, slow down my page loads, is easy to read at a glance and has all of the functions I need. I LOVE this addon!
Now though, all I can get it to do is show the public stream, which does me no good at all :(
I’m heartbroken

Inappropriate?I'm experiencing exactly the same as Mulluane. It would appear that despite showing me as signed in, im not. I can use any fictional account and it signs me in without complaint, so i guess it's not really doing the auth.
I’m Sad

Inappropriate?Me too! No updates are showing, although it is posting to my twitter..confirmed it on the twitter page. I feel blind!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?TwitKit is the business. I certainly hope Firefox didn't cut if off.
Please do something!!
I’m very disappointed

Inappropriate?I have been looking for an alternative while we wait and pray for this to get fixed. The one I have settled on is http://www.twittergadget.com/.
What you do is scroll to bottom of page and pick use directly in browser, sign in, then once you have it up, bookmark it.
Locate the bookmark, rightclick and choose properties, check the "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" box.
Click the bookmark!
So far, of all I've tried out, I like this one the best though I miss the much faster refresh of Twitkit (among other things). -
- used our local /twittermap.de to get an idea whats twittered on the local timeline
- tryed the rss-feed to get an idea what "friends" twitter
but thats no "ERSATZ" for twitkit ( miss it like hell )
origin of problem could be :
- twitter changed and added the access to/of replies, see "info"
and twitkit is "confused" cannt handle them
- twitter changed identification and limits by user-IP
- twitter changed timeline , problems reported with "jerusalem-time"
- twitkit now needs cookies an adverts , blocked by "cookiesafe" and/or "addblockplus" , reported with other twitter-addons
- changes in java-maschine, php, xml ... no supported by older versions, btw no errors reported by "Error Console" except info on "3rd-party cookie" by "twitkit"
but i dont have the tools nor the "easter-spirit" to look into the sources right now
in case Hans and even if he finds a workaround we should file official complaints to twitter, this is no way to treat "power-users ;-)", they shouild test things and tell people

Inappropriate? This is very odd - I don't seem to be getting these errors with the development version of TwitKit. I'll roll back to the public 1.1 release and try to figure out what's going on.
-
Cheers wildly! -
Inappropriate?Any luck, Hans? We need our twitkit. Gonna have to start looking at alternatives it seems.
-
Inappropriate?I think I've found a solution. Actually it's a unofficial fix made by a Japanese.
http://d.hatena.ne.jp/shimooka/200904...
He made several changes to twitkit.js and you will find the .xpi via the following url:
http://www.doyouphp.jp/twitkit-1.1-sh...
I've tested it and it seems to be working perfectly.
Have a nice day. -
confirming !!! . the japan update works , seams to be php-problem , Hans : please send us an official updated "easter-egg" ;-)) -
Inappropriate?Yay, that works, thanks!
-
Inappropriate?I'll inspect his changes and implement them in the 1.2 release. (Which, for you dedicated users, I will say is being released later today.) :P
-
That's awesome and I'll check it out, but three days without TwitKit inspired me to try switching to Seesmic desktop. TwitKit's wins are lower memory usage and more tweets for the screen space used. Seesmic wins with userlists and multiple microblogging accounts. -

I'm sorry, that code change was miscredited - it was made by Alan Rice. -
Inappropriate?thank you so so much!! I've been lost without my twitkit, my tweets went from...who knows how many a day to only a few in the past 3 days.
I’m thrilled

;-) firefox updates the JP-mod again to original 1.1
but the mod at least shows tabs home followers and direct
missing still "friends"-tab and "info"-tab
simlpy reinstall the jp. xpi ( see fzsky links ) -
link shortener works !
copy paste url , highlight url part , click icon (star) , send
its not via tinyurl but works, personally i prefere twittytunes which uses a more "flexible popup" but it needs the yahooplayer
maybe Hans could take a note for twitkit V 1.3 ? -
The URL shortening service can be customized in TwitKit Preferences. -
correction ! firefox just updated to Twitkit V1.2 and you can select the provider for the url-shortener from now on !!!
First test shows all tabs work !!! Juhuuuu !!!
Best easter egg goes to Hans ! Nice Job !
Twitkit is definitely supported , tweet it ! -
Inappropriate?changed passw in case someone plays dirty tricks,
noticed twitter switches from "https" at login to "http" at home,
maybe "interested parties" like to follow what i am doing,
on improvements : groups would be nice, suggest a "filter" based on a list of "regular expressions" to select topics, hashtags, keywords, users etc
I’m not giving up

Inappropriate?Guys, be sure to set refresh interval to 3 minutes.
I'm not very sure but they must've made some changes to twitter API. Now we are limited to 100 requests per hour, though I don't remember how many we used to be allowed in the past.
Setting refresh interval to 30 seconds or 1 minute might result reaching the limit of API request, in which case updates will disappear again. I've seen that.
So, a little suggestion : please add "2 minutes" in the refresh interval preferences in the next release, as it seems to be the best choice at this moment. -
Wack sauce. They'd better have a fix for this in 1.2. -
twitkit could "count" the calls and auto-adapt the "refresh-time" , so it wont run into this trap ! -
Inappropriate?Looks like they didn't put that fix. My screen still goes blank when I click the @replies tab.
I’m still disappointed...
-
correct ! twitkit shows the re from last week, twitter changed the API, see info "notes on changes" at top of "@reply" page -
Inappropriate?I'm so glad twitkit got fixed! Thank you!
I'm still experiencing one issue - my twitpic thumbnails/previews are not showing up. Is anyone else having this problem? -
Yes, I can confirm this issue. -
Second. -
Yes, we are aware of this problem and it has been fixed in 1.2.1. -
Inappropriate? Can you add Cli.gs to the url shorteners? And allow people to login to the service so they can track URL clicks?
-
Inappropriate?Anyone else having links opening a new window and not going to a new tab?
I’m confident
-
Go to your Firefox preferences window and select "Tabs." Ensure that under "New pages should be opened in:", "a new tab" is selected and not "a new window." -
Inappropriate? So what are you guys going to do about the auto-refresh issue? 3 minutes is WAY too long.
And also, "re-tweet" buttons would be practical. Just a few suggestions for 1.2.1...
I’m wondering...
-
I'm not sure what auto-refresh issue you're referring to. TwitKit's refresh rate ranges from 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
As for a retweet button, there is a clipboard icon (next to the Compress URL button) that will copy text which you select inside TwitKit, or inside the currently-open web page. -
If I set the auto-refresh under 3 minutes, the tabs will all go blank again. Twitter seems to have a hangup about outside applications refreshing too many times. -
Inappropriate?twitter help states limits as :
- 1000 updates / day
- 1000 DMs / day
- 100 API-request / hour
- follow limit of 2000 , or unbalanced ( followers/following )
suggests if you need more , apply for "white list "
see : http://twitter.zendesk.com/forums/107...
I still think "twitkit" could count the api-request and autoadapt the frefresh-time by a nice formula ( which ? ) to avoid this trap,
for a test it could display the number of "requests last hour" and give a warning; only prob i see is when you poll via direct login from browser or additional addons which twitkit isnt aware of.
sometimes it helps ( but i dont know if this is related to the prob ) when I disconnect the DSLmodem ( my provider) , resync the line to get a different dynamic IP ( suppose twitter and twitkit use the cookie to keep track of the valid session )

just saw a tweet :
>For those of you reporting lots of 400s, can you confirm you are >not being rate limited with a call to account/rate_limit_status?
looks like there is a call for the limit already ?? -
Inappropriate?I'm not sure Twitkit needs anything this advanced, but TweetDeck allows you to control how often it checks the API for friends, DMs, and @replies, and you can balance that out so that you don't exceed the API call limit. Twitkit could implement something like that, even if it's not user-configurable.
-
Inappropriate? If I set the auto-refresh under 3 minutes, the tabs will all go blank again. Twitter seems to have a hangup about outside applications refreshing too many times.
I’m concerned
-
And no one seems to care. -
Inappropriate?BTW this stupid stalkdaily easter-attack on twitter:
I used addblock added a rule and blocked all references to that url, when addblock updated this morning the counter showed about 80 hits, had no problems to stay "alive" except the delays and blackouts when twitter was busy fighting the attack; they better use a graf-letter confirmation when people change the "settings" like others do
I’m amused
-
BTW followed the next wave of that mikeyy caused by the oprah hype this SA. used twitters own twittersearch on key "mikeyy" ;
this stupid thing presented itself by bursts of success-tweet, so it was easy to identify infected sites ;
i agree, why should twitkit do the work twittersearch already does !
Might be more interesting to have an additional "TAB" showing the results from twittersearch on a specified searchpattern. This is even more flexible then "hashtags", autoupdates, seams to have no limits or trap-limits.
Noticed that mikeyy used the "bit.ly" shortener this time, so thanks to the improvements in Twitkit V1.2, I could switch the shortener ant once, thanks to the team Hans;
blocked all references to "bit.ly" by addblock-rule to stay on the save side.
If this stupid thing uses cookies to hide as mentionened in mashable/digg, it must fight the cookiesafe addon,
think I prefer specified flexible blocking to noscript, any opinion wellcome -
Inappropriate?and we updated to twitkit V 1.2 , embedded pictures are displayed now, no problems here, thanks to the team, Hans
