Inappropriate?What about animated GIFs?
When I upload one (albeit almost 3MB long), nothing happens, i.e. I'm left at the 2nd, upload step.

Does it do this on all images you try to upload or just the 3mb gif? What version of flash are you running and what browser? -
Inappropriate?I have only tried with this 3MB animated GIF file:.
The platform is Firefox/3.0.1 with Shockwave Flash 9.0 r124.

Inappropriate?I've seen our image processing choke on large GIF's before and this may be the issue. We may start flattening GIF's to remove the frames, which causes the heavy processing, but also kind of defeats one of the purposes of a GIF.
