I am running a bot that provides tracking functionality by using the Search API and sending direct messages. Now that there are about 100 people using it and getting messages, Ive noticed over the last few days that several messages haven't been getting sent. I understand the need for limiting casual users DMs to curb spammers, but my bot is legitamate.
I reported this issue on the development list (it exposes the contents of a random DM when using the json interface) and have filed a request through help.twitter.com (issue 320434) to have the limit removed or drastically increased. The rate_limit_status API call doesn't indicate DM limit status.
My PC's been disconnected for the past 12 hours. Turning it on this AM I'm getting exceeded hourly rate warnings, in both Twhirl and Twitterfox.
I see this usually after I use Twitter Karma. However, I've not done anything at all for over 12 hours. And Twhirl, and Twitterfox were both off- not in the task, but really off. I understand TCP-IP and they weren't communicating.
I love Twitter and use it all the time, but I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. Something is connecting to Twitter as me and using up all my API connections so that I'm not actually able to connect from any of the clients I regularly use (Twhirl, Twitterific). I can connect fine through the web at twitter.com or on hahlo.com from my iPhone.
There doesn't seem to be any way that I could find to get a list of which apps are authenticating as me and/or to block them. I'm not really sure how to resolve this since I can't figure out what's causing the problem. Hope you can help! I want my Twitter action back.
I haven't signed on with a twitter client for over a day now and my client still says that I've been paused. "Limit exceeded, paused 5 mins." I've tried multiple different clients. This has been happening now for about a week.
I think you should send an email to all Twitter members telling them of the new 30 requests per hour change. I've had many people, avid users included, not know about that, and have a lot of frustration on Twhirl, etc, because they don't know about that.
You'd save yourself further bleeding of members, and save unnecessary headaches by doing this one simple thing.
I get this error when testing twitter API :
Rate limit exceeded. Clients may not make more than 30 requests per hour.
Should it be 70 requests per hour? it broke my application :(
I cannot receive updates on any twitter app. The site works fine for me, but I cannot get anything on twhirl, spaz, snitter, and now digsby. this is over a few weeks. I've now uninstalled adobe air, and digsby is the only twitter app installed. I don't know why its blocking me
I can't seem to update my twitter from any 3rd parties applications. I have the twitter add on for google desktops, and its not working. I can update from the site, but nothing else. Why?
Hi there, I'm only able to update via web Twitter page or m.twitter.com, but all my Twitter apps are blocked (twhirl, twitterrific, Hahlo, etc.)
Since I'm always on the move this is driving me crazy. Could you please help me out of this situation or let me know what I should do to solve this issue quickly? Thanks in advance
I made one call to the Twitter API through a client yesterday and was immediately locked out for exceeding the request limit of 70 per hour. The lockout has lasted over 24 hours and I'm really frustrated.
