I have tried to receive messages to my cell phone, but I am only able to receive direct messages. In my settings it says "on" but it's greyed out when I try to turn on individual people. How do I receive my messages on my phone?

My phone is able to receive texts from short numbers, as confirmed with other short numbers. However, I don't seem to receive any from Twitter. I have verified my account, but not received a single text. I have done everything that seems necessary, to no avail.

So, I am curious exactly what happens after you register your cellphone with Twitter (assuming you have already registered online, have an account, and want to get your cellphone into the fun). I know you can send private messages and track things (as soon as Tracking is back up), but my question is that what happens *right* after you get registered with Twitter...with 1000-ish messages coming into Twitter's public timeline per second, I can't image these are going to start hammering my phone -- am I defaulted to the Public Timeline right away (before I start tracking people, things, etc. on a more specific basis) and if so, how often do I get the public timeline messages? Thanks in advance! I just can't seem to get my head around what will happen after I have registered my phone but before I track people, keywords, etc. Thanks in advance!

When I check the website, I see that my cell phone has not received 1/3 to 1/2 of the tweets sent by friends whom I am following. This is a new development in the past few days and I cannot fiugure out what has happened.

This is especially concerning, since my husband is traveling and has been using twitter to keep me & other family easily/readily apprised of his status. Using twitter was to be a way for him to send updates rapidly to a group.

Just because I know you will ask:
1. Yes, I have these friends & my husband (mbmyer) set to device updates.
2. No, I do not have "down times" set for my phone or tweeting.
3. For any given person, I am missing 1/3 to 1/2 of his/her tweets; i _do_ however, receive some tweets from everyone whom I am following.
4. I am supposed to be receiving @ replies to everyone.
5. No, my cell phone inbox is not full.
6. My carrier is Alltel (USA)

In a related frustration, I frequently receive tweets that consist only of the individual's name, time of receipt -- nothing else. No text at all. What's up?

In trying to address the fact that I was missing so may tweets on my cell phone, I tried to discomnnect and reconnect my cell phone using the device page. Istead of the number now being connected to the name I texted to you guys (mlmyer1), you sent me an email telling me to have friends follow mlmyer11. I never wanted or needed the mlmyer1 name -- your system created it when I tried ot connect the phone the first time after having created the mlmyer account. If I have phone problems again, how many 1's will you add to my name?

Do I have to use the mlmyer11 identity to receive tweets at my cell phone?

I've got my phone verified, yet nothing comes through to me, yet i see my weekly limit from 250 being used up slowly.

My company offers a foreign language Word of the Day service. One of the ways we offer it is through Twitter. Each day we post a new foreign word to our Twitter account (through TwitterFeed). However, the numerous non-English, accented characters contained in these words don't show up properly when people receive the Tweets on their cell phones. Rather, the special characters are removed or replaced with the letter "i" or something like that.

My question is, does SMS not support accented characters? And if it does, how can we encode our data properly? Are we just plain out of luck if we're in the US?

Apologies if this has already been answered; I couldn't find it directly addressed anywhere in this forum...

Hi Twitter people, I signed up, and have been using the Twitter on my cell phone. At some point, I signed up for the web, but I can't remember my password, and I can't figure out what email address I used. Is there any way to get my password sent to my cell? Or even just my email address? I love you, thanks!
