Is there a character we can use at the beginning of a tweet to escape command keywords like "on" (e.g., a backslash)? If I update with something like "On the roof", I end up following "the". Having to write "I'm on the roof" is definitely not ideal, especially if you have a long tweet that wouldn't fit the 140 character limit. It would be nice just to add a single character at the beginning like "\On the roof".
there should be a command "block word: " similar to the command "track word:"
All tweets with this word should be blocked or all tweets with this word by a specific person should be blocked.
Twitter is going to be a message queue for all kinds of msgs. See twitterfeed.com
I would like to use this service to send my SVN commit messages to twitter. Some of my followers might be interested and some others might be disturbed by this.
Or do you think, I should use a second twitter account instead and follow this?
Is there a SMS command similar to "track" that will give me the list of people for whom I've set device updates to ON?
e.g. sending just "track" to twitter via SMS send you a list of all the words you're tracking (if that service were working, that is). I'd love to send a command a get a list of the people I'm following via SMS.
It would be nice that the API /statuses/update.format has a feature to ignore Twitter commands such as fav and whois.
For example:
"status=w%20Hello&command=false" just post "w Hello" as it is.
* Background
I'm developing my API client and having a problem with the commands.
As far as I know only ASCII characters are searched to detect commands, then the combination of Japanese characters and a command, for example, "?????w" (suppose ???? are Japanese characters) is interpreted as just "whois" without arguments. (w is an abbreviation of whois). As a result of that, it ends up as a failure of the post operation.
You can see this behavior by posting with "?????w" from Twitter web site.
The failure is notified with an error message when you use the web interface. However it's not notified to API client.
Note that "w" has a meaning of "laughing" among Japanese net users. The combinations of some Japanese characters and "w" are frequently used. So this behavior is not convenient.
To solve this problem, it's nice that the API /statuses/update.format has a feature to ignore the commands.
My phone was stolen a month ago and when I had a new one and tried to register the number, all I got for an answer was this message: All I eve get as a response to the verification message I send is ""We're no longer supporting this command. Soon it will be received as an update" I twitter from Ecuador and my cell company is Telefonica / Movistar
I'm finding some Twitter commands are no longer supported.
FOLLOW ALL
LEAVE ALL
How do I do this now?
I like the idea of on a whim to "follow all" with Gtalk.
I can use "off" to stop it, kind of like standby, then "on" to start it again.
Or I can "leave all" to stop following in my IM.
Has "stats" replaced "followers"?
What happened to "get", how do I now IM Twitter for the latest post from all people I'm following (like a catch up).
Is "tracking" official - return a list of words I'm tracking...doesn't work for me?
and "untrack all" doesn't work for me either?
Also is there a command like tracking, but for users
eg. who of people I'm following am I gett ing in IM (eg. follow user)
ie. give me a list if users I'm following in IM delivery
