I need to reset my twitter account password. I clicked on the link to reset it, and put my email address in. The site then said that an email with resetting instructions has been sent, but I haven't received one.
I realize that other people have posted about this problem already, but the replies all just say "send me your username and email". I don't know how to do that.
Why is no one getting email notices for new friend adds or DM notifications?
As of yesterday (4/11 at about 4pm pacific) emails alerting of either new followers or arrival of DMs stopped.
Checking with Following list - this seems to be the state for pretty much everyone. Is there a system issue? Are you aware? Is there an ETA on the fix?
Have tried selecting and unselecting following notifications in preferences to see if that affects - no impact.
I cannot save my settings because the system claims my email address is in use.
However, when I log out (and register that account with a different email), I go to "reset password" with that apparently-in-use address, and it says "Oh, snap, we can't find your account."
Could someone purge that quasi-record so I can use my main email address again?
I think its time for "report spam" to be added to user pages. Twitter is great that you pick who you want to follow but you can't pick who starts following you. It's great that I can block users that I want to but these people that are sending massive follows to various people for the purpose of spamming should be stoppd. The easiest way to do this would be when I click on the URL in the email I got from twitter there should be a "report spam" link on that user's page (well, on all user's pages). This would allow twitter to create algorythms to automatically suspend accounts. For instance, if a new user immediately gets 20 spam reports in a single day, they're suspended pending review whereas 1 spam report in a week could just be accidental and shouldn't be a cause for concern.
I personally think this isn't just a feature request but its almost urgent so that we (as a twitter community) can stop or at least slow this problem down before it becomes too big.
I never know when someone wants to follow me until I pull up Twitter on the web (which isn't a lot these days since I use other apps to post to Twitter). I get notifications when people begin following me, who I am following, but I don't get those requests and suddenly there will be 4-6 requests I don't know about.
How can I use an email address that I used on an old, now deleted, Twitter account? When I try to use it, I'm told that email address is already in use. When I try to reset the password for that address, I'm told the address can't be found.
Make it easier to see the spammers
On the "person X is following you" email:
1. put the number that the person is following/has following.
2. include a block button directly on the email
3. include the last 5 posts from that person
4. put a block button on the mobile version, too
I forgot my password, and none of my active email addresses are recognized. I didn't sign up via mobile, so this isn't the problem already discussed. More likely, I signed up with an address that's no longer valid. How do I get my username back?
Every time I try to change profile, I get "Email must not already be in use" error message. Post claims problem solved, but not for me. Has existed since day I started a few months ago.
Not having the New Follower email for the past couple of days made me think about how often I need to know about new followers. I decided that getting an email alert seconds after someone starts to follow me is overkill and becomes a distraction, especially when the new follower is a spammer, which is about 50% of the time for me.
How about adding a consolidated version of that email with two options: weekly and monthly. Most discussion forums include this type of "digest'" option and I think it would work perfectly here.
In the last couple days, I've noticed my number of followers has increased from 70, to 72, to now 74. That's great!
In my settings, I have checked the box that says I want to be emailed when someone follows me. I have the correct address in my profile. Unfortunately, I seem to no longer be receiving these email updates. The last that I received was on Jan 12, but I know I've gotten new followers since then.
I don't remember my username or password and cannot enter Twitter.
This extremely frustrating. Apparently Twitter has at least one of my emails
(jilnelson@sbcglobal.net) but I do not receive any help.
