I would love to be able to send certain messages only to certain sets of people through some sort of grouping functionality.
Like when I go to a conference, I want to be able to send certain messages only to other twitter friends who are also at that conference. A lot of my friends get really annoyed with me when I'm constantly twittering about an event they're not lucky enough to attend.
Do you guys have any plans to implement this or any other sort of grouping functionality? Is there a timeframe for this? How long do I have to wait?!
I was wondering if there we're any plans to set up groups in twitter. I was at a concert this weekend with friends and using twitter to allow everyone to keep up with what stage I was at so they could find me. It would great but, annoyed a good group of my friends who weren't there. I thought that if I could have set up a @concert group with the people that we're with me it would have helped alot.
I have at least three different social groups, but I use the same email address for all of them. Thus, people from all of them have requested to follow me. The thing is, I want to keep all my conversations separate. I think it would be a great idea to be able to put different followers in different groups. Then, when I want to send out an update, there should be a check box next to each group's name, and I can decide which groups of individuals should receive this update.
I think it would be awesome if you had two categories for people you follow. "Friends & Family" and "Everyone Else". Kind of like Flickr's two types of Contacts. It helps you sort through your content. There could be a tab for people you are close to so you can see all their tweets and one for people you don't really know but like to follow occasionally. When you get too many people you are following it gets hard to follow ALL the tweets. But I don't want to miss the tweets from my close friends.
Allow users to place followed twitterers into one or more groups. For example, users could place all news related feeds into a "News" group, and put local friends into a "local" group. Users could then make mass changes to notification preferences. For example, the above user could elect to not receive notifications from the "local" group but still get feeds from the "news" group.
Users could elect how to handle multi-group feeds, either allowing feeds that have notifications from at least one group enabled to be sent, or requiring them to have all groups enabled.
This could be combined with http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
to allow users to set certain groups to only notify over IM and allow other groups to notify over SMS
I want to create a twitter account for my workplace that acts as a funnel for all messages sent by company employees. Is there a way messages can be collected by this main account from select users, and conveniently displayed so a worker could visit this one account and see what person A, B, C etc. all are doing. It would almost act as a company break room, and a way for former friends to keep in touch. Any way this is possible and is twitter even the best medium for this?
Is it possible for all Twitterers to do this, or was this a special thing done for MTV? What I want is for people with a common interest or at a common event to be able to send tweets about that interest/event to a community. So, if I'm a WGA member and I'm at a WGA rally, I can send a tweet to my personal Twitter about the rally, and have that tweet included on a communal WGA Twitter. And that communal WGA Twitter could be followed by everyone interested in WGA events -- so instead of having to find & follow multiple personal Twitters, with non-rally-related tweets mixed in, they could simply follow the communal WGA Twitter, to see all the WGA tweets (and only the WGA tweets) at once.
Is this a functionality that Twitter already has? If so, how do I do it? If not, is it something we'll be able to do in the future?
I would like to organise my contacts in groups, so I could send a message to several guys without showing the same to all the people that is following me. Can I do this from my account or do I need to create a new restricted one?
