Hey all,

Due to some exceptional traffic over our IM services, we have to shut down IM services for the evening. We look to restore the system to full health this weekend.

Please please, can you pretty please bring back AIM asap? Or just let those of us who care the most beta test your in-progress solution for it? You said about a month ago that you had brought someone in to fix it - honestly, I don't *care* about the flakiness at this point - flaky Twitter AIM is better than no Twitter AIM!

Most frustrating - I *know* it's still there under the hood, because it worked just a couple of months ago when I discovered that I still had it set up - but I accidentally deleted it, and of course it's no longer listed as an option so there is no way to get it back.

As it is, I forlornly ping the AIM "Twitter IM" i.d. at least once a day hoping to get a response other than the canned "TwitterIM is under maintenance at the moment. Please check back later."

No IM from twitter, is it fixed?

I'm not getting any IMs on my device. I understand you've had problems but aren't they fixed by now. I can't sit at the computer all day Twittering I'm on the go.

Quite frustrating when I have twitter set to send updates to my phone. People will direct message or reply to me but I don't see those messages, just regular random twits so it gives the appearance I am ignoring them

I used to be able to use AIM to send and receive updates on Twitter. Within the last week or two this stopped working and when I tried to delete and start over, the AIM option was no longer there

I really can't get the TwitterIM to work... I've tried EVERYTHING. HELP!?

It comes UP in my Adium window, and when I click the link on Twitter it sends the "code" to the IM window. But when I send it back, nothing happens. No verification. Nothing. I've turned my mobile notifications off, and then on (mobil works fine), and I've tried all of this several times, on different computers. Using Safari, Firefox, iChat and Adium. HELP!

Whenever I try to update through the Twitter IM I get "TwitterIM is under maintenance at the moment. Please check back later."

And I never get anyone else's updates either. :/ Is there ANY way to fix this?

Also, I had deleted the IM device from my twitter account just to see if re-adding a different screen name will work, but now the entire box is gone and I can't put anything in.

I have been unable to keep Twitter working with Gtalk. It had been working intermittently, but now doesn't work at all.

When I add my im details into Twitter and send the code to twitter@twitter.com in Gtalk, nothing happens. I get no reply from the bot whatsoever. On the website, it allows me to change my im settings, indicating everything has gone through, yet I can't update or receive notifications.

I've reinserted my information numerous times, trying Gtalk and Jabber, with full email address as the login or just the username. Nothing. I thought it was Miranda, so I installed the Google Talk gadget. Still nothing. Please help! I want to use this!

It seems like I stopped getting emails a week or two ago. Plus Jabber/IM has been down forever. I have no idea what's going on in Twitter now, and I don't have time to visit the site regularly.

IM doesn't show up as an option in devices, unlike the example in "How to add a device." Presently, my only device is my mobile phone, and there appears to be no way to add IM or another device.

Would you please update when the IM function will work properly. I use gtalk and twitter@twitter.com is still offline. has been for a week. Please update on your status reports. It's been a week since I could use the service and I'm tired of the self-help board where everyone is complaining and no one from Twitter (the 14 employees how are here to help) is responding. thanks.

Is gtalk still having issues? I can not seem to register my gtalk with twitter. I have tried inviting as a friend and I have tried to send twitter the verification message and both fail.

I followed the steps by adding twitter@im.twitter.com to my AIM and gmail, logged out, logged back into twitter and went into settings -> devices and expected the IM thing to be up so I can add my AIM, or gtalk, but NO!!! I dont know how this works, someone please help!
